Enjoy for Retro Sketches and Friday Mashup

Hi Everyone.  Happy Monday.

Well, I got to play along with a couple of challenges whilst showing some love to my stamping goodies yesterday!

I saw two challenges that I wanted to combine – one because the sketch was so unusual and the other because the colors were interesting 🙂

I really think the Retro sketch is very interesting and originally thought that I would use up some of the fabulous DSPs I have.  However, I decided to do some masking, using my Eclipse masking sheets, and to color block the card using the colors from the Friday Mashup challenge.

I used an Inksentials blending tool and my SU inks and once I had enough color down, I grabbed some heat and stick powder and some distress glitter and covered just the Pool Party and Calypso Coral areas.  I left the Daffodil Delight area free of glitter for two reasons:  I liked the contrast and I didn't want to lose any of the definition from the sentiment that hangs over onto that layer.
here's my card:
Retro mashup
You can see that I brought the Calypso Coral from the base of the card up to the top by stamping a heart in Calupso Coral and adding the Calypso Coral twine.  I also added a little glimmer and sparkle to the heart with a gel glitter pen.

Isn't that a great sketch – and aren't the colors fabulous together?  You can see that I mounted the white layer onto a Pool Party base.

On a personal note:

I had to share this photo of Bailey.  We had some new pots and pans delivered and, of course, a box cannot arrive without being fully inspected by Bailey.  We had hardly gotten the box open before he was in it rolling around like a madcat.  You can see from his eyes that he has that "don't mess with me" look on his face 🙂
Happiness is

On the weather front… spring might have arrived…. but winter has not given up it's grip.  The wind is from the NNW and is freeeeeeezing… hence the temps were back down in the 20s again today!  Enough already!  I really want to feel the warmth of the sun on my face and to watch the garden start to sprout!  Of course, come July, I'm going to be moaning about the heat 🙂

I'll be back with another card tomorrow, in the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
Jaydee

  1. Awesome card. Great sketch as well as color combination.
    I think Bailey has found a new place to relax and maybe take a nap. :}
    Enjoy your evening

  2. What a terrific way to use the colors! I agree, leaving the yellow glitter free really makes it pop and highlights your sentiment!
Thanks so much for playing along with us at The Friday Mashup!
