Fabulous Florets – CASE

Hi Everyone.  Happy Tuesday night.

Well, I don't know about you, but spring doesn't seem to be arriving anytime soon.  It was 39 as a high here yesterday!

Tonight's card is another one that I CASED from the SU demo only magazine.  It showcases Fabulous Florets -again – and the gorgeous DSP – Beyond the Garden.

I loved this layout when I saw it in the Stampin' Success magazine.  I think when I make it again, I will make the focal white panel a little smaller.  I also wish I had white twine for the tie on the ribbon.

I added a little sparkle by using my dotting my Versamark marker and the adding some Iridescent Ice.

Earthflowersss

The layout was definitely not something I would normally use, so it was great to play around outside of my comfort zone.  I stamped the flowers and snipped them out and then mounted them on Stampin' Dimensionals.

Card recipe – all ingredients Stampin' Up!:

  • Card stock:  Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
  • DSP:  Beyond the Garden
  • Stamps:  Fabulous Florets
  • Inks:  Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Blushing Bride, Pacific Point
  • Accessories:  Whisper White satin ribbon; linen thread; Iridescent Ice embossing powder
  • Tools:  Versamark marker; paper snips; stampin' dimensionals; 3/4" circle punch

On a personal note:

New birds in the garden today…. a flock of about 50 Whitecrowned sparrows have arrived and taken up residence.  They love the new fountain we installed last year.  Birds are really attracted to running water, so the fountain is proving a very popular place for drinking and bathing.  Each of the different bird types reacts differently at the fountain.  The whitecrowned sparrows tend to congregate on the boulders at the bottom and catch the water as it comes down the front of the fountain.  The cardinal, blue jays, and grackles love to bathe in the top of the fountain.  It really is a hive of activity all through the day.  It provides great entertainment for the cats.

We also have a little yellow rumped warbler who has decided to join the fray.  He's most welcome!  The catbird arrived back today, too.  No sign of the wren or the orioles as yet.  I think they are hanging back and waiting for spring to really arrive!

As always, thank you to all of you who visit my blog – and I especially thank those of you who take the time to comment.  It really does mean a great deal to me.

Prayers tonight for those affected by the storms down south, and for those of you who need a little lift or a warm hug

Have a fabulous Wednesday

hugs

Jaydee

  1. Isn’t it funny how we can all see those things that are “glaringly obvious” to us when we make a card, and yet, others most likely would miss it? I’m referring to your ribbon/twine comment. I can honestly say I probably wouldn’t have noticed it (too busy staring and marveling at all the snipping you have done) had you not said anything. :o) We’re always our own worst critics, you know?
This card is wonderful and I love the color combo. In fact, I was in Target the other day and snapped a photo of a display of teacups and mugs that had almost the same colors and I wanted to remember it for inspiration later. :o)
Brien is wanting to put in a fountain. I would like a pond at the base for Hannah’s water lily, but with Miss Beanie being the waterholic she is, we’re going to have to hold off a bit longer… All this to say, I’m so happy you have had so many birds at yours. :o) I would like to put one in for our lovelies to use, but it will be a while yet. :sigh:
I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
    hugs!

  2. Beautiful card – so springy and fresh. It’s cold here, too. Crazy weather – one day it’s 75 and then the next several days it’s down in the 50’s and 60’s. Yesterday the wind was bitter cold. Chills a person to the bone. We’re waiting for the Indigo Buntings to appear at our feeders. I love their brilliant color.

  3. Good Morning, The card is lovely and I agree with all the snippy you done, who would notice other things? Your cards are always lovely and pretty and wonderful and nice … shall I keep going? Know what you mean by the weather, frost in Ohio and it is not very warm and we have lots of rain for the last three weeks. Speaking of birds, I put my hummingbird feeders out yesterday and all the flower bed decorations and decorated the pool fence. Yes, caught a few moments with no rain (that is very hard to do in Ohio) Today is working with a customer on the MDS and her cricut and also would love to get to store to get some new fabric to play on my new sewing machine (b-day present) and if I ever get to mow grass I will get to play with my new push mower! : ) Have a great day Jaydee, luv ya lady.

  4. Lovely card! Great to use the Stampin’ Success Layouts! They do stretch me out of my comfort zone too! Your yard sounds lovely, the birds, the fountain! We have lots of birds here and enjoy watching them attack the feeders! Maybe a fountain will be a fabulous next step!!!
    Hugs,

  5. WOW! Jaydee, this is beautiful–the colors, the layout, the ribbon, the sparkle and the little punched notch by the bottom ribbon was a sweet little touch. Thank you for sharing your insperation with us.
Thanks too for sharing your garden–the birds have been something lately haven’t they. I heard our friendly catbird over the weekend, I know it’s the same one as last year because he likes to quack just like a duck. Makes me laugh every time. Hang in there spring has got to be coming…no wind chill for this morning’s run!
Have a Happy Hump Day One and All, warm thoughts and prayers to those in need.

  6. Your card is hope for spring 🙂 The shading on the flowers is beautifully done. I may have to get this stamp set, if only for that delightful sentiment.
Thank you VERY much for sharing your birds with us. I now live in a unique apartment complex. There are two apartment blocks joined by a gigantic atrium in the middle. I live on the inside, which means I can go onto my balcony year-round and enjoy the lovely tropical trees; but, alas, no birds.
I envy your your variety of birds. I have only seen cardinals once–what a thrill that was. (Now the grackles I can do without.) Wrens, orioles and catbirds bring back wonderful childhood memories. A wren always nested just outside my bedroom window and woke me with its perky song. A catbird family nested in a bush on the other side of the house. Every time I practised piano, one of them would sing along with me.
Thanks for the memories (sung, not spoken)
