Strength and Hope – triple butterflies

Hi Everyone.  Happy Wednesday

Hope you are all having a great day.  I have a quick 30 minutes break between conf calls and wanted to show you another one of the cards I CASED from the Stampin' Success magazine.  I really loved this one.  I changed it a little bit…. of course!  I  had to add some bling.  I added the basic rhinestones to the butterflies and to the base of the card.  I love the fact that you can use this card for any occasion where you want to show support.  The colors are perfect for this time of year, too.

When I went to photograph the card on the windowsill downstairs, Charlie was watching a Chipping Sparrow.  He was not impressed that I had disturbed him on his vantage point.  So, here's the picture of the card

yep… hope you can see the card.  Fabulous isn't it?  Really wonderful?!!!!  Mmmmmm…. the next shot is even better.  He decided the Chipping Sparrow was being really bad and swung his tail even harder

Thanks, Charlie.  You are really NOT helping here – especially as I have a very short window of opportunity to get this card photographed, uploaded and my blog update done!!!!

Let's try this again!

Bingo!  Finally!  Isn't that pretty?  I take no credit for it – except for blinging it up!  I love the color choices, the repeated butterfly and the fabulous ribbon.  What do you think?  I'd like to do it in a stronger color scheme.  I think it would look awesome even in black and white.  Mmmm… I might have to play around a little with this.

Card recipe – all ingredients Stampin' Up!

  • Card stock:  Blushing Bride (textured), Whisper White (plain)
  • Stamps:  Strength & Hope (don't forget $2 of each sale goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation)
  • Accessories:  Blushing Bride ribbon; Basic Rhinestones
  • Finished card size 3 x 6

I really appreciate you all sharing your bird stories.  Linda, I am pleased that my stories brought back some childhood memories.  I love the idea of you playing piano to  bird song!  The wren is one of my favorite summer birds.  Their song is so delightful.  I'll be pleased when they return.  I agree about the Cardinals.  I love that they are so colorful all year round.  I just love them in winter.  They are so dramatic against the snow.  Cherie… only you could have a catbird that quacks like a duck!!!  Lesley… try a fountain…. you just need to make sure that you have rocks in the fountain so that the birds can drink/bathe on them.  Unfortunately, some of the birds aren't that good at judging that the water is too deep for them!  Beverly, you put up your hummer feeder… Oh… I am jealous… its going to be about a month before we can do that.  Sue, we haven't seen the Indigo Buntings yet this year… I do hope they pay us a visit.  They never stick around – but I love it when they visit.  Rach… mmm… beanie and fountains – probably not a good match! 🙂

Our fountain continued to draw attention today…. I looked through the window and a pair of doves were taking it in turns to bathe.  I then looked a little later and the chipmunk was on his back legs, front legs up the bowl of the fountain, drinking as the water ran down.  He was loving it!  Then, a little later in the day, the mallard pair arrived (he doing a nose dive – or is that beak dive – as he landed, I might add!)  The next thing I know… she's resting in the middle of the bird bath.  Yep, just standing there in the middle of the bird bath watching the scenery.  Hey!  This is Minnesota.  Home to 10,000 lakes – and you need to sit in my bird bath????

Prayers for those of you who need a lift or a warm hug today.

Have a fabulous Thursday everyone

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. I don’t know what it is, but the colors on this card honestly had me saying, “Oh, woooooooow” on a bit of a breathless sigh. It’s gorgeous and the colors are stunning together. Something bolder for summer would also be fantastic. It’s a great layout, and I love what you did with the bling.
That Charlie! He is SUCH a character! :o) Does he chirp and chatter at the birds as that tail twitches?
I’m lovin’ the bird stories! I can just imagine the mallards in the fountain–silly birds. And, I bet that chipmunk was adorable. :o) As for the Beanie and the fountain, alas, I expect you’re right. Maybe someday…;o)

  2. LOL…it’s a FINE photo of a cat tail! And LOL again at the duck sitting in a bird bath–too funny. Keep the bird stories coming.

  3. Cute photos. FABULOUS card – so soft and beautiful. I may need to CAS it! Love that twill. I enjoyed your “fountain” stories at the end of the post. The Indigo Buntings are late this year. They never stay too long, here, either.

  4. Way to go Charlie! The card is stunning Jaydee, I love it!
Yes, my feeders are out and my little hummers are flying in. Love watching them. The males are always dominating the feeders and scare others away. They chase each other around the house…very cute to watch. I have to watch myself cause I normally have a couple of dozen hummers around and if I go outside in my *red* sweatshirt they will just fly right up to me. Thanks for sharing Jaydee…have a great day!

  5. I loved the cat photos…would be just like my two to disturb the project! What a beautiful card, I plan to make this one! Love the bird stories. We have a small fountain, and everyday we have the huge sandhill cranes (we live in FL) visit, and we have a resident pair of doves that love it, too. All of this week we’ve had a mockingbird that is enjoying bathing in the fountain. Such a treat to watch. I saw my first hummer yesterday visiting our firebush.

  6. It is a pretty card, made even better with the bling! Thanks for sharing the cat-tail, too! It’s too bad Charlie is not as well-behaved as the Boxer Twins. Oh wait…oh no…Muffy, NOT the Players card. Drop it….Arghh! Enjoy your day, Jaydee, and thanks for bringing a smile to my face!

  7. This has got to be one of my favorites – tail and all!!! Serious….I love it and you’ve convinced me to get that stamp set! So pretty.
Now you’re REALLY going to be jealous here Jaydee…but we’ve had our hummingbird feeders up for about two months – and we have a minimum of about 40 birds everyday!!! I’ve never seen so many…we’re having to fill the three feeders THREE TIMES A DAY!!! I think I’m just a little ready for at least some of them to head on up your way now!
