Hi Everyone.
Happy Friday night. I hope you have all had a great week.
I made a quick card and I think any cat lover will appreciate this. (Particularly appropriate after our rescue last night!) And… I can blame Lynn for this…. she was the one who introduced me to Fluffles!
The base of the card is Riding Hood Red. To get the golden glow, I used Smooch Spritz and a sponge. I sprayed the Smooch Spritz directly onto the sponge and sponged all over the card base and let it dry.
Before doing that, however, I embossed it with a non-SU texturz plate featuring holly (to echo the holly in his hat. I stamped the image onto Whisper White and colored in each of the elements. I then added a couple of Basic Rhinestones and mounted it onto Always Artichoke. Really quick. Really easy and, I think, really cute!
And now….. on to Beth's slide show. Beth, I know that you said you were a little nervous to send in your cards. Believe me. You shouldn't be. there is a cleanness to your cards that I love. The concentration is on the main elements and it takes a lot of restraint to be able to do that. Your use of monochromatic color schemes is fabulous. I know that the troops will be thrilled to send each of these cards home. thank you so much for doing this – YOU ROCK!
The color scheme is fabulous and appropriate for either a male or female recipient. I love the border that Beth used with the heart – they really fit together. The inking of the edges really helps to pull all the pieces together and, of course, the sentiment is perfect!
I love this one too. The little piece of ribbon is just the right touch. Again, a card that is perfect for a man or a woman. The warm colors work so well together.
I love the colors that Beth used here. The deep brown ink works so well for the sentiment and there is just enough color to give the card that extra bit of interest as does the raised coffee cup.
Who said that love has to be red. Like Lissie, Beth used black and white for a love card and I – well, LOVE IT.
I still cannot believe that Stampin' Up! retired this set. It is the perfect set for sympathy – and this is a perfect sympathy card.
Don't you love this? I do – I think its fabulous. Blue birds of happiness for your birthday! The stamped background is perfect for this card. The little pop of green for the leaves works so well.
So, please leave a little love for Beth. I know she will appreciate it.
On a personal note: Well… Charlie (yep that's the rescue kitten's temporary name) is still with us. We took him to the vet this morning to get him checked out for communicable diseases, rabies and distemper shots, etc. I want to make sure that he's healthy when he goes to his home. Currently he is living in our garage and is as happy as a clam thank you very much. He definitely is someone's cat and we alll think that he has been dumped on a country road within the last few days. He has no fleas, no ear mites, is very housed trained…. he was just really, really, really hungry and a little on the thin side. The vet reckons he probably hadn't eaten for about 3 days. It would have been tough for him to catch anything in the wild as his claws are really, really short. He's probably about 6-7 months old. So, who dumped him – no-one knows. No color or microchip was found on him. Apparently, there is a lot of dumping of animals going on right now as people battle in this economic climate.
We will not deliver him to the pound, as it is very likely that he will be euthanized. The pound is overflowing with unwanted animals. We call one of the local agencies in town and hope that they get back to us sometime. I think he has a very strong chance of being adopted because of his age and his very friendly nature. But for now, he's living in the garage. We cannot bring him into the house – we already have 7 cats and it would really upset the balance in the house if we brought in an in tact male kitten!
Tomorrow is Lou's birthday. I may not get to post tomorrow, so please forgive me if I don't.
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. Prayers for Trish, Germaine, Sue and John, T, Pri, Arthur, Hugo and "Charlie"!
Hugs
Jaydee

Oh how that Fluffles made me laugh! What a fun card! :o)
Oh no! I’m SO sorry you’ve found a dumped kitty. Sorry for the kitty, that he was dumped, that is. He couldn’t have found himself a better home to be dumped upon, that is for sure. I hope he finds a home soon.
Happy happy birthday to Lou! :o)
Love your little “Fuffles” card! He’s a cutie for sure.
Beth your cards are fabulous!!!! Love them all.
Lynn
I just love the Fluffies Collection, but I had not seen this one as of yet. Your card is super cute and very well done. It is so cute to make that cat into a Christmas Ornament, I laughed out loud when I saw it. You did a great job coloring it in, all of those tiny parts. I’ll have to remember your Gold Smooch Technique, I think that it turned out looking very neat on a background. Now I am going to have to go in search of that Stamp. Thanks for being the enabler, Jaydee. This is not the first time you know. My DH even now says “what, you saw something on Jaydee’s site and you just have to have it or the world will end!” Too funny.
I am glad that Charlie basically checked out alright at the Vet. I am sure that he is as happy as a lark to be getting food and water on a regular basis and a nice shelter to stay in. You are such a good rescue Mom and Dad.
Beth, your cards are AWESOME!!! I love the coffee one and could easily frame it and hang it in my kitchen. They are all so original and special. I love that each one has it’s own special touch. Thanks so much for allowing Jaydee to share them with us. You go girl, keep on making those fantastic creations.
Happy Birthday Lou, Tomorrow. Enjoy it!
Praying for Everyone Else and sending Well Wishes to All that need them. I care about you all.
Cyber hugs, Trish in Wisconsin
What a cute Christmas card! I can see why you fell in love with fluffles!
Thank you for the kind words about my cards. The heart on 2 of the cards is from a SU set called Gentler Times. I got the set, in perfect shape, at a garage sale for $2! I love it! It has a flower in it that reminds me of Elements of Style. I use that set a lot. The black card is the first time I have used rub-ons, so that was fun!
I am glad that “Charlie” is healthy! I hope you find a home for him soon!
Have a great weekend!
I forgot to wish Lou a Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday Lou! I hope you have a wonderful day!
Cute Christmas card Jaydee! Awesome cards Beth!
Sorry I haven’t commented in the past 5 days but my Aunt(My Mom’s Sister) passed away Tuesday so I haven’t been home. Her funeral is today so if you would please keep my Mom and my family in your prayers. My aunt’s husband passed away 5 weeks ago so their children has lost both parents in 5 weeks! I thank the Lord above for allowing both sons who were in Iraq for getting them home for her funeral. One of them didn’t make it home in time for their Father’s funeral.
Trish & Germaine-even though I haven’t been here to comment I still kept you in my thoughts & Prayers!
I also for ALL my cyber friends!
Oops! Forgot to say Happy Birthday Lou! Hope you have a wonderful day!
