FYI: You make me smile

Hi Everyone.

Happy Thursday night.  I got some stamping time today… oh yeah…. and I got hooked on a color scheme I have never used before…. green and brown with either white or cream as a neutral.  On splitcoaststampers this week the CAS was a color challenge.  You all know I love my color challenges and this one really had me stumped… until I started playing with it!

Tonight's card uses one of my favorite sets – in case you hadn't discovered that yet – Awash with Flowers and the sentiment is from FYI.

Oh… I am so loving this set!

I stamped the three negative images in Chocolate Chip on Whisper White card stock.  I then stamped the positive images in Old Olive and Chocolate Chip – again onto Whisper White.  I then used my Versamark pad and stamped over the dry ink and sprinkled all three images with Iridescent Ice and heat set them.  I cut around the images and mounted them inside the negative images using the paper piecing technique.

The thing that was so super cool about the brown is that when I heat set it, I realized that in the light it looked like Ironstone Pottery – wow… it changed from brown to green to blue – and all three together – depending on how the light was reflecting on it.  So, I call this my Ironstone Iridescent Ice technique!  and I love it… now… let's see if I can replicate it!

A little of the retired satin mistletoe ribbon was wrapped around the card.  I had already stamped the "you make me smile" sentiment from the FYI set in Chocolate Chip.  Of course, I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure the placement was where I wanted it! :-)  A small half pearl finished off the main flower.

I hope you like it – Cherie, this one is for you! 🙂

A shout out to Beth and Germaine tonight.  Beth for making my day by telling me that she visits my blog every morning before she goes to exercise… thank you Beth – big hugs…. and to Germaine who is a fellow Englander and a newcomer to our regular blog readers.  A shout out – and prayers – for Trish – and a huge thank you to those of you who have sent her a card.

Oh… yeah… and… mmmm… some of you wanted to know when my birthday is…. it's Saturday.  We are not discussing the number of years that have passed since my poor mother gave birth to me in the very wee hours of the morning in the midst of one of the worst storms of the decade.  Explains a lot doesn't it!

Have a fabulous Friday everyone and, as always, thank you so much to all of you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Hi Jaydee, this card is so very cool. I love the look of the iridescent ice over the versamark, it just blows my mind all of the different colors that come out. I have to say, that for a simple card, this one is very striking! A super job you have done. Glad to see another fellow Englander has joined us…pretty soon we will become a club, and have to give ourselves a proper name. Lol Funny how we are all meeting on your Blog. Must be your very British magnetism. We will all have to get together and go back for a holiday together. Now wouldn’t that be fun! I think that I shall dream about it. Have a wonderful day Jaydee, and everyone that reads your Blog. May you always be Blessed.

  8. Thanks for the info on how you got the cool glittery effect. At first I’d thought you stamped with black StazOn onto acetate and used a clear-drying glue along with glitter to sparkle it up. Neat how the brown turned out.
