Happy Friday.
It’s another INSPO challenge across at Festive Friday this week and I created a fun card celebrating a day that is very near and dear to my heart. Festive Friday is a bi-weekly challenge that celebrates holidays/festivities around the world. We provide a list of words as inspiration for you to include on your crafting project. You don’t haave to stick with the theme, just include three elements from our INSPO list.
So, hedgehogs and butterflies… .what could we be celebrating at Festive Friday?
World Conservation Day. My Mom was way ahead of her time and was the one who got be thinking about the environment and how we are treating it. Way back around the time that Rachel Carson published a book called Silent Spring – across the Atlantic my mother was telling me that animals should never have to suffer for human advancement. I doubt that she had even heard about Rachel Carson, but conservation was something she felt strongly about. Back in the early 60s I didn’t give it much thought to be honest…. but once I had started to travel and experience both the natural and man made worlds, I totally understood why she felt the way she did. So, celebrating our challenge this week was something very close to my heart!
I started by stamping, watercoloring and die-cutting the hedgies and the butterflies. I used a new stencil from The Greetery called basket weave to create a background that helps to ground the hedgies. I used a new wonky stitched rectangle die and adhered it to a Early Espresso card base. Quick and easy!

What an adorable little pair Jaydee! Love the wonky die and stencilling too. I think our generation definitely appreciates the natural world more as we age; fortunately in my experience the youth of today are so much more environmentally conscious at an early age – maybe there is hope for our planet yet!
Those little hedge hogs are so cute and look so happy. Love the stenciled background, and that unique shaped die really pops on the black!
