Hi Everyone,
It's the fabulous Anne Marie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge tonight and she has a color combo for us:

I have to tell you…. this color challenge threw me for a complete loop! 🙂 I LOVE Blackberry Bliss, it's such a wonderful rich color. I detest Mint Macaron (sorry, SU!) and I am not in the least bit partial to Crumb Cake. I had two choices – give up card making all together – or pull up my big girl panties and deal with it. I was very tempted to do the former, but did the latter instead 🙂
I decided I was going to take my nemesis straight on. Mint Macaron would take center stage. One of the great things about doing challenges is … and you've heard me say this before …. they challenge you and make you grow! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I know…. but this is Mint Macaron……. 🙂
Anyway, sorry AM – I love you – and the rest of the team made some amazing cards with these colors – so it really is just me 🙂
I had to decide on my fourth color. In the end I went with Gold. I thought the gold would go really well with the Blackberry Bliss. I started by stamping the flower from Beautiful Day onto Blackberry Bliss card stock and added my superfine gold embossing powder. I just thought the flower needed a little more depth, so I pulled out my Copic Markers and added some shading:
I stamped the Hello sentiment onto the Mint Macaron base and used the same gold embossing powder for it. Then, I needed to bring in the Crumb Cake. I began by stamping the leaves from the Leaf Canopy set onto the Mint Macaron base with an ink that is very close to Crumb Cake. Once again, I used my Copic Markers to add a little more interest to the leaves:
You can see that I also added a little Blackberry Bliss to the middle of the leaves with a pencil eraser!
I then used the die from the Leaf Canopy set and die-cut the leaves in Vellum. I also used a Copic Marker as close to Crumb Cake as I could get to color the vellum.
Before I mounted the flower using foam tape and then tucked the vellum leaves behind it, I took some Kuretake metallic watercolor paint and added some gold splatters to the base. The last thing I did was mount the Mint Macaron to a Blackberry Bliss card base, leaving just a little border.
Here's my full card:
Well, you can see there was one last thing I did! I added a gold glimmer enamel dot to the center of the flower. I thought it finished it off quite nicely 🙂
For the inside, I stamped the leaf from the Leaf Canopy set onto the inside of the card base and stamped the sentiment. Here's the inside:
I hope you will play along with us this week. If you need some inspiration, the design team have created some beauties for you:
On a personal note:
Even though the temps are going to be in the 80s this week, it's very obvious that fall is not too far away. All of our summer visitors have left, except for the humming birds. They are the only things still waiting for the right wind to take them south. The garden really is much quieter without them all and I really miss the calls of the Orioles – oh, and their flashes of bright orange and black. I'm accustomed to them waking us up around 5.30 in the morning for their oranges and jelly! So I hope all of you south of us, are getting ready to make them welcome and give them a little sustenance on their way to their wintering grounds. I know they will appreciate it 🙂
The tree frogs still hang around on the feeder though. They know that it attracts the moths and other insects and it's a perfect place to just hang out and wait for food to come by. These guys are amazing though. They usually hang around in a pair. One of them doesn't mind me bringing in the jelly bowls, but the other one just leaps off the feeder into mid-air and drops to the ground about 15 feet below. Never ceases to amaze me that he's back the next night 🙂
I'll be back later in the week with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Jaydee, this is one my favorite Altenew sets, and I love how gorgeous this flower looks in deep purple and gold. A stunning card, so glad you shouldered through your not-so-favorite colors. Love your cute little tree frog, too!
That flower certainly does have depth – just gorgeous, Jaydee!
That bloom is just glorious in those rich shades of gold and Blackberry. Funny how colours take people – I love this combination. I think MM and CC look all the better for being together with BB – kind of like the sum being greater than the parts. I think gold was genius fourth colour. Great, as always.
Jaydee, you never cease to amaze me! I would never guess you had a problem with Mint Macaron! LOL This card is GORGEOUS! I actually like MM! The way you stamped the CC leaves and colored the vellum is fabulous! Your flower is spectacular, too! The gold embossing adds so much sparkle! You rocked the challenge! I went from 88 in ATL to 56 in Indy. I am cold, tired of rain and ready to see the sun again! Have a fantastic week, My Friend! XX
Well, for someone who doesn’t care for MM, you nailed this challenge with a big hammer! This is GORGEOUS! The gold and blackberry are amazing together! Love your little froggie too!
I just love this card, it is so beautiful. I wish I had your patience and good eye for coloring. I also love the frog.

This card is absolutely beautiful and exotic, Jaydee!
Wow the touch of gold with the Bliss is SOO elegant…such a gorgeous card Jaydee!
Jaydee… love your post. You certainly recouped given the colors! You were not alone, I struggled as well! I just love the richness of your flower. I think it is interesting that you picked the dark rose Copics for blackberry… where I picked the dark purple. I had actually pondered this question! I love the card… even with icky mint!
Well I never would have guessed that you had an issue with any of these colours Jaydee because your card is gorgeous! The gold as a fourth colour is just stunning and brings everything together beautifully. I love the touches of watercolouring and gold splatters too – way to go for rising to this challenge!
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was “challenged” by the color combo! I liked all the colors but took many turns before I came up with my card. Your card is stunning and the BB flower is so rich looking with the gold embossing! I’d say you nailed this one!
Jaydee, I had no idea how much you dislike Mint Macaron. Ha! I have that same feeling about Pear Pizzazz. I’m glad you persevered because your card is stunning! Maybe MM is growing on you. Hee hee! I love the shading in the flower and the gold is the perfect detail. As a matter of fact, ALL of the details you added are perfection. That little tree frog is so cute. I just love all of your little visitors.
