Hi Everyone. Happy Monday.
I have so enjoyed my couple of days at home relaxing after a very intense 6 months at work. I relaxed, went to the gym, crafted, read, slept, caught up on my TV series, cleaned house and just had fun 🙂 It was great and I so enjoyed it. In fact, I would like to spend a few more days just doing that, however, I am back to work again tomorrow.
I went looking for challenges and was thrilled to find that this card had been chosen by Seize the Birthday as their co-winner and at Casethissketch as one of their top choices the last time I got to play along. When I go looking for challenges to play along with, I never expect that my card will be honored, I do it because I really need the inspiration of color, sketch or theme challenges to help me make cards. So, my huge thanks to the the fabulous teams at seizethebirthday and casethissketch challenge team for honoring my card.
For this card I found the sketch at casethissketch and a fabulous theme at Seizethebirthday.
I had this idea in my head of using my crafter's workshop number stencil and to ombre blues and greens. It was great, but, it was much more intense than I had wanted, so I ended up layering two layers of sticky-backed vellum over the top to make the colors less intense. I know it's pretty difficult to see it in the photo, but in real life you can see the blue and green colors under the vellum 🙂
I then die cut the "hello" from the "Hellp You" die cuts into the stenciled base as well as in Basic Black card stock. Once I had die cut it in black, I used Black Enamel over the top of the die cut to add shine and depth. I then inset the enameled black into the card base and added a tag with a black enamel dot to finish it off.

On a personal note:
I've been promising some blog candy, and today I managed to photograph the first of the upcoming blog candy grab bags! This one is a Stampin' Up! grab bag and it's really easy to put yourself in contention for winning!!!!

As a book hog… yes, I admit to that! It's really hard to decide on a single book. I have an eclectic taste in books – just as I do in music… oh… and stamping goodies 🙂 So…. what is one of my favorite books? Mmmm… that really is a hard question! The Prophet – Kahlil Gibran? Gone With the Wind? Prince of Tides? Lord of the Rings? Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Midsummer Night's Dream? Tess of the D'Urberville's? Age of Innocence? The DaVinci Code? The Kite Runner? Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? Silent Spring? The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side? Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil? A Brief History of Time? Man…. this is a hard question for me… but I am hoping that you can suggest your best book. tell us why it's your favorite (or one of your favorite books). It can be any type of book. I'll be leaving this blog candy prize open for the next week. So, leave us a message with your favorite – or one of your favorite books on any post for the next week. There is no way I can choose a single book. I have 5 big bookcases in my tiny condo. The one I reach for the most is an anthology of Robert Frost’s poems. No matter what mood I’m in, I can always find something that fits my mood. Black Elk Speaks by John G. Neihardt has stayed with me for over 20 years even though I’ve only read it twice. I only have to hold the book in my hand and I can vividly recall certain passages. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden is another favorite, a different life and culture are always fascinating to me. Back in 1991 I was browsing through the bookstore and ran across Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Now, I have read all of her books and love them. Again, a different time and way of life I wasn’t familiar with. My friends have learned never to let me go into a bookstore if I say I just want to look around for a few minutes. It could easily be 4 or 5 hours before I come back out.
I can’t wait to see what everyone else chooses, I’m always looking for suggestions for books. The chance to win blog candy and find new books to read – talk about a win, win! Thanks Jaydee!

I’m a book hog also .. It started with Agatha Christie ,when I was in 5th grade .. And I love Stephen King and Dean Koontz. James Patterson. But with the world getting so very volatile.. I’ve been reading more Fannie Flagg and books that have simpler nature.. Where people were greatful and kind to one another .. Sit down at a table and eat as a group .. Or a loving family ..It just takes me back to when we didn’t lock a door .. But I digress…thanks for the chance to win some blog candy .. Happy soon to be spring !!! Anne

As a book lover and former reading teacher who worked diligently to instill the love of reading in my students, it’s virtually impossible to narrow down my fav to one book. So…..how about my current favorite author? Liane Moriarty – currently I am working through all of her books. Also loved a book I read many years ago….Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns.
I love anything John Grisham so it would be hard for me to pick just one of his. I’m drawn to his books because since he is himself a lawyer I feel that he writes about things he really knows about. Thanks for the opportunity to win great blog candy!
My favorite books are by Nicholas Sparks. He started with the Notebook which turned into a movie with star James Garner. His books are about love in all sizes and shapes. My father even read the Notebook and cried. If you haven’t read one of his books I highly recommend it. You will fall in love.
My favorite book often seems to be the one I am reading. Tom Clancy is a favorite author and I love his “cybernet” series
I really like the Elm Creek Quilting Circle books. Creating with paper or with fabric, both are fun

Right now I’m reading Voyager by Diana Gabaldon. I read all her books. I also enjoy James Patterson’s books.

The sketch is lovely and like your card.
“Stranger in a Strange Land” by Robert A. Heinlein. I read it for the first time in junior high – to me, it portrayed characters, culture that were open to new ideas and ways of seeing things.
Other favorites, any Arthurian legends and the Brother Cadfael mystery series by Ellis Peters…simply for the entertainment value and imagining a different time and place.
I like to collect books and crafting supplies equally!

Gosh, don’t remember when I picked up a book to read. The ones that I have read are all mostly autobiographies. Other than that I do real through many cookbooks of which I have and the favorites are the 3 Pioneer Woman’s cookbooks that I have along with several of the Mr. Food Cookbooks. I have right around 3 thousand cookbooks so it’s hard to pick a favorite. Have many church cookbooks which I think are really the best kind.
Have more nasty weather moving in come tomorrow and Friday with more freezing sleet and icy roads. Hopefully this will be last of it for us Texans. I’m getting cabin fever.

Every few years I try to reread Heart of the Family by Elizabeth Goudge. It makes me feel grounded.Thanx for asking! My hub sez I’d have more room for stamps if I got rid of some books, but I JUST CAN’T!

Colleen b. – 3000 cookbooks? Holy cow! I have about 25 and even then, still fall back on the same old recipes. You must get so inspired!
Jaydee, have you read anything by P.D. James? Really great reads. And Alan Bradley- he is a Saskatchewan author but writes about an 11 year old girl who gets into all sorts of interesting situations. A different read. But I have to go back to Pat Conroy – love his writing!
