Happy Tuesday. I have to tell you that it has been great reading your comments on last night's post and reading about your favorite books. I have so many new authors to go and check out. As I was crafting on Monday, I went looking for some inspiration and found this fabulous sketch across at As You See It.
I had so many ideas rushing around in my head and settled on a stamp that I have had for years and love. The sentiment is just perfect and it was a great match with the new Stampin' Up! Sweet Dreams DSP. I know that this is baby focused DSP, but I have managed to use it for everything other than a baby card :-) The sun paper is perfect for the sentiment.
Before we get to my card, let's look at the fabulous sketch:
Here's my take on the challenge:
I paired the DSP with a little black to give it punch and added some wooden elements that I had been hoarding. They seemed perfect for this sketch and I colored them with Copic markers and added a black enamel dot in the middle. They look bright and happy :-) There is something about yellow, black and white that brings a smile to my face 🙂

On a personal note:
Nearly 4 inches of snow today….. the flakes were big and fluffy and looked so beautiful. However, it caused chaos on the roads and there were so many crashes and delays you would think that we didn't live in a snow state! I think everyone is ready for spring! Colleen, I hope you have no more ice storms!
Now…. back to the blog candy. :-) As I said last night… books are a major part of my life. Lou will tell you that when I left my adopted country to live with him in Singapore, I arrived with 47 boxes of books. I had a few precious paintings, my gorgeous dinner sets, my silverware, some very select pieces of furniture – and 47 packing boxes full of books. Over the years I have donated many of them to libraries as I wanted someone else to benefit from all of the poetry, biography, auto-biography, fiction, art, nature, music, cookery, design, spirituality, travel.. heck, I don't there is a book genre that I didn't have. I loved every single one of them and I hope that their next owner appreciates them as much as I did.
Recently, I have gotten into a bit of a rut reading wise, and realized that I could count on my fabulous blog readers to inspire me to stretch my book wings and find some new authors. It's only been one night and I've already had some great ideas.

When I love a book it is no uncommon for me to read multiple times. I got hooked on the “Outlander”series by Diana Galbadon many years ago.She is a wonderful storyteller. The only problem being it takes awhile for the next book to arrive. If you enjoy reading a series and really getting to know the characters this might be a good choice. My reading is very eclectic. …Kim Harrison’s Hallows series is pure escapism fantasy but well written. My all time favorite classics is Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”. Thank goodness for books. They have brought great joy to my life! May they continue to expand my sense of adventure exposing me to topics,times and people I might never have known about. Happy reading!!
Your card is stunning. I always did like the yellow, black and white as well as the red, black and white being favorite color combinations of mine.
What a great sentiment on what will be a nasty, wet and dreary day today, tomorrow and Friday. :{
Having showers later today, freezing tonight so roads will be icy for hubby on his way home in the early morning hours tomorrow and Friday.:{
Will warm up to thaw the ice in the afternoon tomorrow and then will refreeze Thursday into Friday. Hopefully this will be last of these winter blasts. I am so ready for that nice warm Texas sunshine and for it to dry out so that I can work outside.
I talked to my aunt who lives in Iowa and whose birthday was on the 29th of Feb. and turned 99 years young.(yup, a leap year birthday gal. Talking to her you would never think that she is 99. Anyway, she said that they also have had lots of snow and is ready for Spring.
I think everyone is ready for Spring to get here. First day of Spring is the 20th and it can’t get here soon enough.
Remember; Sunday; the 8th is Daylight Savings Time so don’t forget to reset your clocks ahead 1 hour. Texas is trying to ban daylight savings time which will be fine with me. I never did like the time changes.
Anyway, have a wonderful and enjoyable day and everyone ; do stay safe if you’re on the roads or traveling.
I love Aimee and David Thurlo as authors….their main character is a Native American police officer (female) and I have learned so much about that culture by reading the stories..
For fun I enjoy Dianne Mott Davidson. She has a series with a caterer as the main character….she also adds many terrific recipes in her books.
