Holiday Cheer for Unscripted Sketches #229

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

I saw this great sketch across at Unscripted Sketches and couldn't resist playing along.

Sketch_229

It's a very versatile sketch and lends itself to most stamping styles.  For me, I wanted to keep it clean and simple.  I had a new set from PTI Called Holiday Cheer and it has a great wreath stamp and I knew that would be the starting point for my card.

I also had some woodgrain card stock left in my stash and decided that this would be a great backdrop for the wreath.  Mind you, I did press a little too hard on the right side of the sentiment!  Note to self:  Don't press too hard when using a clear stamp, especially on patterned card stock!!!!

I stamped the wreath onto Whisper White card stock and then cut it out using the die that matches the stamp set.  I then used Heat and Stick powder and covered it with some retired green SU glitter.  I love heat and stick with glitter, it's the only thing that I use as it really helps to set the glitter.

Once the glitter was set, I took a Gumball Green marker and colored the outer edges of the wreat, as I really wanted to get rid of the little white rim that the die left.  I added a piece of gold elastic cord over the top of the card and stuck it down with tape.  I also secured it under the wreath and then mounted the wreath using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The sentiment was stamped in StazOn.  All that was left to do was to mount the front piece onto a Gumball Green base.

Here's my take on the sketch:

Holiday Cheer

I apologize for the photo.  It was waaaaay too windy to take a photo outside, so I ended up taking it next to the window in the family room, and there wasn't quite enough light!

On a personal note:

It was fun watching to see which of the cards from last night's post that you preferred.  It seems that the round frame is winning out, especially as that seemed to be "pinned" more than the rectangle.  So thank you to all of you that "voted" either with comments or via "pinning".  Thank you also for your words of support, they really are much appreciated.  I'm also glad that I was able to enable a couple of you with the Wetlands set:-)

I used to be so scared of sponging, but some practice has made it much easier for me – oh, and the blending tool helps, too!

Lou and I are almost finished sorting out the garage.  All the cupboards that we have purchased are up and boxes emptied, unpacked and recycled.  All we need to do now is put up a couple of ceiling mounted trays where we can load up the Christmas stuff onto one and the Halloween stuff onto another.  Lou is also going to build a bench that will house all the outdoor cushions, as well as act as a seat to sit and change shoes, etc.  It's all starting to come together.

I know that Lou would tell you that if you stood still long enough, I would have you sorted, labelled and "put in your right place"!  I am a bit of an organization demon.  I've always been like that.  It comes from my grandmother, Lily.  I really like to have a place for everything, and everything in it's place.    It makes me happy when everything is organized.

As always, thank you for your visit and your comments.   Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

I'll be back with a card tomorrow.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Lovely sketch and lovely card. So CAS. Ahhhh. :o)
I love to organize–I try to organize B and the girls, but they won’t stay still long enough for me to sort them. :oP
Isn’t it wonderful to get projects out of the way? :o)
    Hugs!
P.S. Well done, Lou! When you’re finished building your cushion box, could you make one for me as well? ;o)

  2. Jaydee,
I love all of your cards but what I love most is what you share about your life and home. What could I do to get you to come organize and sort my craft rooms for me? I seem to struggle with that so much, lol.
Keep sharing especially all of your critters 🙂
