Hi Everyone. I know fall is behind us… but I wanted to share with you this card that I created using the oak leaf stamp from the Lovely as a Tree set. I see the trees from this set used a lot – but rarely the leaves. Oak leaves have a lot of significance for Lou and I. When we got married, oak leaves were used throughout our flower decorations and the place where we got married had Oak trees on the property – so a lot of sentimental attachment to the oak leaves :-) As we have been together now for 15 years this November, I thought I would dedicate this card to Lou to let him know how grateful I am that we met.
I used the sketch from a splitcoaststampers challenge – featured stamper FS146 – it was such a great inspiration card.
- Kraft textured card stock (retired), Really Rust, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip card stock
- Image stamped onto Naturals White
- I used the "kissing" technique for the stamped image. Firstly I inked the image with Really Rust markers and used Garden Green marker for the acorn. I then dabbed a little Dusty Durango on the edges of the stamp and a little More Mustard on the inside. This gave me subtle variations in color on the stamp.
- I huffed on the stamp to make it wet and then applied it to the paper.
- The original sketch had a hand drawn frame around the central image, so I did the same
We are still sailing the high seas as you read this. I'm really hoping that my updates work whilst we are making the crossing. I'm hoping that we might occasionally get connection so that I can check.

Love the CAS lines and simplicity of this heartfelt card. I bet Lou loved it too. I could also see running Kraft paper through the Crimper for a similar look. I love all my pines but I do wish there was an oak or two as well. (Cats wouldn’t mind either as it would give them a tree to climb without risking messy stuff on their fur – lol!)
