Hi everyone and welcome to Jaydee's SU stamping space. A clean and simple card for you using the "spotlight" technique today.
I've been dying to do a clean and simple card using Bermuda Bay and Shimmer White, it's such a crisp clean color combination. As for the Holiday Lineup set… you all know I love this set – and these snowmen are just too much!
- Shimmer White and Bermuda Bay card stock
- Holiday Lineup stamp set
- Sentiment from the Short and Sweet set
- I stamped the snowmen in Bermuda Bay onto a piece of Shimmer White card stock.
- I stamped the image again and this time I used my wide oval punch to cut out the middle snowman – this was the one I was going to "spotlight". The wide oval punch was just the right size to get all of him in. The only thing you have to be careful of when you are using the spotlight is that you line up the image you are going to punch out in exactly the right place. Otherwise you end up with too much card stock at the top – or the bottom of the image… Now how would I know this…. errr… because I had to do it three times before I got smart and measured it up correctly!!!
- I colored the gloves and the nose of the central snowman – he was the only one I wanted to really feature. I colored his gloves and his nose in Dusty Durango and then put a little Crushed Curry on his buttons
- I took a round rhinestone out of its casing and stuck that on his pompom and colored in some of the lines on his woolly hat with Bermuda Bay
- I adhered the spotlight snowman with two layers of stampin dimensionals to really make him stand out. Then, I needed to add one more thing.
- I put a little shimmer paint on my aqua painter and went all around the central snowman – just behind the oval and just over a little – this created the overall shadow that I wanted and made him "pop" from his pals just a little bit more.
- I stamped the sentiment using my stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure I got just the right placement.
I loved making this card – it was really quick and easy – and I do hope you will use the spotlight technique. It's a fantastic way to treat a central image and add extra interest to a grouping.
Have a fabulous day everyone – and as always, thanks for stopping by my little area of the stamping blogosphere. I really do appreciate your support.
Jaydee
