Magnolia for Paper Players #352

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a color challenge for us:

Now…. I am NOT a pink girl and this is a whole lot of pink and….I don't have any of the colors 🙂  Now, I have to say – the three colors are fabulous together – and I really enjoyed playing with them – but generally pinks are not part of the color wheel that I generally see 🙂   But, as I have said multiple times, the great thing about doing challenges is that they force you out of your comfort zone and that is a very good thing!

I thought that my new Altenew Build A Magnolia would work well for the challenge as it allowed me to blend the three colors of pink together.

I stamped the magnolia, colored it with my pencils and then die-cut the magnolia.  I had tremendous fun coloring the image – and it did take me ages to get the right shades of pink for the challenge.  Here's a closeup of the coloring on the die-cut flower.

I needed a hint of green, so did a light cover and added a browny pink over the top of it to mute it.

I also needed a little something to ground the magnolia, so used a browny pink to very lightly create a background with my stencil.  I hope LeAnne forgives me 🙂  All that was left to do was to add the sentiment, die-cut the base with my stitched rectangle dies and then mount the front to the card base and add a little puffy heart.

So, I have to admit, I really loved playing with those rich shades of pink – thanks, LeAnne 🙂

On a personal note:

Here's one of my favorite little flowers and they come in a variety of color variations.  Coreopsis – aka Tickseed, has soft leaves and a seed head surrounded by pretty petals.

Isn't that pretty?   You can see all the little flowers waiting to bud.  and I love, love, love, the stripes and patterns on each of the petals – there is perfection in total imperfection 🙂

One of the other flowers we got at the nursery was purchased purely because a bee was buzzing around it going in and out of each flower.  He was so happy.  I can't remember the name of it – and it's pouring with rain, so I don't want to go and read the label – but it sure is pretty!  When it has stopped raining so hard, I will go and check what it is and update the post wth the name of the flower :-)  ETA.. how could I forget…it's a Penstemon aka Beardtongue 🙂

When we moved from our old house 5 years ago, we forgot to move the fountain that we had in our back garden.   We were almost at the new house when I remembered that we had forgotten to pick it up.  As we were two hours away from the old house by then, and couldn't as the moving crew to turn around and pick it up – we decided to leave it.   BUT…. I have missed it.  I have spent the last couple of years searching for one to replace what we left and haven't been able to.  We found one much smaller – but I do love the color.  So Lou put it in the garden last weekend.  It's wonderful to sit on a chair and just listen to the gentle running of water.
