Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday Night.
Well… tonight we have a card for you… and the winner of the blog candy! Bilbo Baggins assisted me and has chosen a winner.
Tonight's card is for the Palspaperarts challenge – which was to use monochromatic blues. I thought it was such a cool idea, especially as I rarely use blues. I decided it was time to pull out one of my old wheels and one of my favorite sets – Close as a Memory. There are some amazing cards across at PPA – so go check them out.
Here's my card:
So….. I don't know why there is a halo in the middle of the bottom border – I checked the card and it's fine. For some reason, the lights must have caught it at an odd angle… but there sure is NOTHING on the card.
Take a close look at the central image. You can see the flowers look as though they are a water color painting on silk. I did that by taking a piece of tissue paper, crumpling it up and then straightening it out again. Then I stamped the image onto the tissue paper. You can see the crinkling on the paper in the close up. It's a really cool technique.
To give the water color effect, I spritzed a little Smooch Spritz (vanilla) onto the tissue paper and waited for it to dry. It gave an imperceptible sheen to the image – so I wouldn't use it on tissue paper again. If you want the water color look, you could use a small spray bottle with a little water.
I mounted the dry paper onto a Whisper White backing and then onto a Night of Navy matt. I did this by using my Anywhere glue stick and covering the entire piece of whisper white card stock – cut to size to fit the image – with the glue. Once the tissue paper was ready, I carefully lifted it and placed it on top of the pre-glued Whisper White card stock, gently pressing and smoothing out as I went. It's really very easy, you just have to be a little more careful with the tissue paper.
The bottom of the card was created using a wheel. It's called the watercolor vine (107560).
I mounted the Whisper White base matt onto the card and then tied a little Whisper White satin ribbon around the card. After that, all I had to do was mount the focal image onto the Whisper White matt with stampin dimensionals.
You don't have to create a watercolor feel to the flowers, you can stamp and leave them dry. The crinkling is created from the crumpling of the tissue paper and doesn't need the moisture. I used the moisture because I wanted the ink to bleed just a little.
So…… here was Bilbo Baggins…. fast asleep…. he was not at all interested in choosing a winner….
He's my constant companion… he's never usually far away…. He's the half-brother of the Big-Girls-Blouse-Bailey… anyway… I'm sure you don't care about that… you want to know who WON the BLOG CANDY….. well, after much deliberation…. Bilbo Baggins did make a choice… and the winner is……..
LYNN HAYES
Congratulations, Lynn. I will send you a separate email so that we can organize to get your exclusive Stampin' Up! goodies to you. Thank you to all of you who left me such wonderful comments. You know, I really appreciate your support and love reading your comments.
To FiberArtist and Adelle, my heart goes out to your SIL and your sister on the loss of their pets. Losing an animal is always so traumatic. I'm not sure if you have seen the poem called rainbow bridge. If you haven't it's a wonderful poem to include in a card.
I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend. As always, thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere… your visits are always much appreciated.
Hugs
Jaydee

Oh WOW! Thank you. I’m so excited about winning the blog candy! Yum!!! You’re a sweetheart to offer it. Give Bilbo Baggins a very special hug for me!!!
Blue is my all time favorite color – so I’m loving your card! So pretty. I think I’m going to have to try some of that smooch spray stuff.
Beautiful card! I love the blues-so clean and sharp. I ordered my Smooch with my last order but am afraid to try it. Do you just spray it on? Any tips?
Jaydee, I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now and I have to tell you how much I always enjoy your cards. There is always a clean and simple beauty to them. Thanks for sharing with us!PS I always love the pearls!
Hey Woman, you’re not supposed to be in your Stamping Space…You’re supposed to be with Lou!!! I just don’t know what I am going to do about you two. Lol. Tonights card is very delicate and pretty. I like how the white ribbon really pulls out the white border along the bottom of the card. I love wheels and not nearly enough Stamper’s use them. I think that they can add so much to a card. Such a sweet little Stamp you picked. I have never heard of stamping on crumpled up tissue paper, what do you use to adhere it to the white base? Does this show through the tissue paper? Gotta love your now trademark little blue pearls. I am with Adelle, can you explain how you use the Smooch spray, does it go all over the place? I have some on order. Once again, a wonderful project shared by you. Now go have some Lou time!!! Congratulations to you Lynn, way to go! Give Bilbo Baggins some extra hugs for having to work so hard and being disturbed out of his restful sleep time. He is a beautiful cat!
Cyber hugs to you, Trish in Wisconsin
I love blue-so this card is something that I find really beautiful. The tissue paper technique is new to me also. I’ll have to try that.
I just watched the Rainbow Bridge video you mentioned in the blog. Beautiful and very touching. I had to wait to be able to see to comment after watching it! Tears were flowing!
Our pets are so special to us all!
Hope you have a wonderful Monday!
I am gonna have to make this card! This is a beautiful card Jaydee! I love the colors and I have done the tissue paper before! We did it with coffee filters and reinkers! It is a fun technique!
Congrats to Lynn! Way to go girl!
Jaydee please say a prayer for our state of Tennessee! We have some serious flooding throughout Tennessee! I think there has been 9 deaths so far! Even the interstates are flooded! Where I am is not as bad but parts of Nashville are! Most of the Tennessee schools are closed! It is terrible! So please keep those families in your thoughts and prayers!
Good morning! Congrats to Lynn on her win. :o)
The weekend’s cards are lovely–as always! I love this one in particular. I have wheels, but I NEVER use them and don’t know why. Hm, maybe I’ve just been inspired to do so once again.
To Adelle, I’m so sorry for your sister and sil’s loss. “The Rainbow Bridge” is definitely a tear jerker. Pets are SUCH a part of the family and to lose one is SO hard. :o(
Such a beautiful card! I wouldn’t think this color would make an elegant card but I’m wrong. I love the 1/2 pearls in the center. Congrats Lynn!!!
I love how you stamped your main image – I will have to try that! Absolutely beautiful card! So glad you play at PPA!
Love the faux silk, Jaydee! Thanks for sharing this beautiful card, and thanks for joining us @ PPA this week!
Love this Jaydee…what a pretty piece of art and the tissue effect is so cool! Thanks for sharing!
