Monochromatic Love for Retrosketches

Hi Everyone.  Happy Wednesday.

Another card that I made using stencils tonight :-)  I promise I only have one more to share with you after this.  However, I did have tremendous fun playing with my stencils after the stenciled course!

Once I saw the sketch from retro, I pulled out the first stencil that I purchased- Studio Calico Chevron Mask and the Thinking of you stamp set from the SSS February card kit.

Here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

Monochromatic Love

I masked off three areas on the stencil and used three colors of Tim Holtz distress inks:  Broken China, Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass.  Starting with the lightest at the top.  I then took a piece of heavyweight vellum and stamped the YOU ARE sentiment with Midnight Muse ink and used some clear embossing powder on top.  The "loved" sentiment was stamped with archival ink.

Of course, I had to find a way to adhere the tag to the card base without the adhesive showing through – and I wanted it to be lifted from the chevron base.  To fix that, I used some double sided tape underneath the place where the heart was going to go, and then colored the cardboard heart with Real Red ink and adhered it to the tag, right over the top of the glued area.  I added just a hint of glimmer on the one side of the heart.

I was really pleased with how it came out.  I love the crisp white with the different color blues.  Using this piece of card stock that came in my card kit made me realize how much I miss Taken with Teal!

On a personal note:

Still cold.  You must be as bored of hearing me say this, as I am of these cold temperatures!  Seriously, I am SO ready for spring!

Jeanne, cyber hugs right back at you! 🙂

Rach, just in case you were wondering what the night on the town with GC was that you we missed, I thought you might want to check out this link.  I said to Lou as we sat down for dinner last night, "darling, you know I love you, but….. I think I would have enjoyed the date with George tonight"!  I won't tell you what he said :-)  Oh.. and I'm so glad you found smile.amazon!

As always, thank you so much for your visit and your comments.  They are always much appreciated.

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.  I'll be back on Friday with another card

Hugs

Jaydee

And to think that could have been us…We would have made quite the splash on the red carpet, don’t you think? ;o) Oh how drool-worthy that man looks all dressed up.
It was lovely and warm-ish here today. Alas, I’m coming down with B’s cold (he actually had flu!) and was unable to enjoy it.
As for your lovely card, I didn’t realize how much *I* had missed Taken with Teal until you posted this. It’s so wonderful and that little pop of red just catches your eye and brings it right there to the sentiment. It’s delightful! :o)
My prayers for you and your work situation continue. How unsettling for you all. And, may warmers temps arrive SOON!
    Hugs!
P.S. Lou, surely you wouldn’t mind Jaydee having just *one* evening with George…;oP

  2. wonderful sketch and a Great looking card Jaydee.
Oh, a mother and her young daughter from Dallas won the GC. raffle.
Enjoy your day and have a wonderful weekend

  3. I hear you on the cold! Winter has been cold and extremely snowy here in Maine this year. I feel for you and send you thoughts of warm days.
Super cute card! Thanks for sharing how you created the background. Definitely going to have to try that.
