Paper Players Challenge # 15 – Ann’s Color Challenge

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

Tonight's card uses the fabulous colors chosen by the talented design team member Ann.  Her colors:  Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Old Olive.  I was really tempted to go the fall card route…. but was drawn to doing something different instead.

I haven't used my Friends 24-7 set yet.  It was one of the sets that I got with my September order.  I don't know why I hadn't bought it before, because it really is a fabulous set!

Anyway, i wanted to use the subtle versions of the colors, and got out my blender pens and inks and watercolored the bird.

Here's what I came up with:

Oh yeah….. and I can thank Ann for enabling me.  She does some great things with the Color Spritzer tool, so I had to break down and get that, too.  I am so pleased that I did.  It's phenomenally easy to get just the right amount of "splotch" on the card that you want.  I don't know why I resisted so long!

You can see the pop of Cajun Craze on the chin and belly of the bird.  The leaves were colored in Always Artichoke.  Why?  Cos, the color scheme was originally Always Artichoke, but Lesley changed it to Old Olive.  :-)  Either way worked for me…. but for once, I had gotten my card completed early and knew that I wouldn't have chance to make another version!  So, I went with the Always Artichoke.  If you don't have Old Olive…. you can substitute for any green that you have, too!  That's the great thing about inspiration photos!

Here's a close-up for you.

We hope that you will join us again this week.  We really do love visiting your blogs, leaving a little love – and checking out your creations.  There is some amazing talent out in blogland – and we have certainly seen it in the challenge submissions on the Paper Players challenge site!

Card recipe – all supplies Stampin' Up! – unless otherwise noted

Inks:  Markers:  Early Espresso, Always Artichoke.  Classic Inks:  More Mustard, Early Espresso

On a personal note:

I couldn't let today go without a moment of silence for those who lost their lives 9 years ago today.  And a moment too, for our blog friend Trish who lost her battle with Cancer yesterday.

Tomorrow, I am going to attempt another video.  I have a sore throat, and a croaky voice, so I will ATTEMPT to create the video :-)  If I don't get it done, I promise I will do it for next weekend.

It's a glorious day here today…. temps in the mid 60's with humidity lower than the temperature!  It seems SO long since that has been the case.  My DH has gone out for a long ride on his bicycle, he wasn't going to give up the chance to go get some fresh, cool air.  Brenda and Cherie… I think he may have even taken Baby out for a little exercise!

Prayers today for:  those affected by 9.11.2001.   Bob and Nichole (Trish's husband and daughter), Germaine, T, Pri, Arthur, John & Sue, Lesley and Cyrus.

As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits, your support and your comments are greatly appreciated.  I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Beautiful card, Jaydee! I love how you matted the image in an oval! Fantastic job with the Color Spritzer…I am always happy to be an enabler! The pearls are the perfect touch! An all-around gorgeous card!

  2. Beautiful card. I have had this set forever and never really used it. Another chance to try my coloring skills or lack of! I really am liking the color spritzer. Hoping that it is easier to use than the Smooch! You really have to be careful and point the Smooch at the paper and not your face. Learned the hard way.
I am looking forward to your next video. Hope you are feeling better soon.

  3. I have the color spritzer but have not used it in a while, I will have to get that out! I love the way it looks on your card!
This is a beautiful card and it proves that you do not have to cover every bit of the white background! So clean and simple looking even though I know it was time-consuming to make it!

  4. That does it, I have to invest in some Nesties. My mom has them, but I don’t. I just love the way they embossed that oval. I also need to invest in the spritzer tool now too. ;o)
This is a wonderful card! I love everything about it!
