Piece of Poison for iSpySketches

Hi Everyone.  Happy Thursday.

I'll be back tomorrow morning with details of the next card drive for charity.  So, please check my post tomorrow.

In the meantime, I have a card I made based on the challenge across at iSpySketches this week.
Free for All Friday

Of course, I rushed off to look through the previous sketches and found this little beauty.

I immediately knew that I wanted to create a Halloween card and new just the right element for the vertical layer.  Just one problem….. I didn't want to put something horizontal across it and when you see my card you will understand why!   I really had fun with this challenge

Ispysketches (1)

Yeah… it was a little difficult finding something to put horizontally across the skeleton!  So, I hope the team will forgive me for that!

I distressed the Newsprint DSP with Crumb Cake ink.  I printed the skeleton using MDS and was able to size him to just the right size to fit the card.  I then had some fun coloring in the skeleton with a Gelly Roller and added two Metallic dots for his eyes.  Here's a closer look at him

Isn't he fun?  I think so 🙂

Here's what I used for the card:

  • Card stock:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla
  • DSP:  Newsprint
  • Stamps:   sentiment and focal image both digital stamps from MDS.  Piece of Poison for the skeleton and All Holidays for the sentiment
  • Inks:  Crumb Cake (used to distress the newsprint)
  • Tools/Accessories:  Gelly Roller pen to color the skeleton.  Bone folder to distress the edges of the Newsprint DSP.  Hero Arts metallic elements for the eyes

On a personal note:

Another gorgeous day here.  The wind dropped and the temps were in the 60s.  Just glorious.  Lou and I went for a stroll.  We really want to make the most of this fabulous weather.

Our carved pumpkins are starting to flop….. I guess that means we might have to have a little more fun and carve a couple more :-)   Seeing how great the porch looks decorated for Halloween, I can't wait for Thanksgiving so that we can start putting out the Christmas decorations!

What's been visiting the garden…… take a look

Turkeys

Our whitethroated sparrows are still around, too

As always, thank you for your visit.  You know that it means a great deal to me, as do your comments.  Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a lift tonight.  Have a fabulous Friday

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Great take on the sketch, Jaydee, even if you didn’t use the horizontal element. I think it would have looked strange to have the skeleton’s feet cut off at the ankles…;o)
I love how you added just that extra touch of bling to dress him up that much more. This is a super fun card! :o)
TURKEYS!!! I love it! My friend in MO took a photo of four turkeys sitting on a round bale of hay and I had to laugh. These guys look a little more *natural* (for lack of a better word).
We had the wind you all seem to have lost–it really stole my breath on my walk this morning…but, the temps are so delightful, and the humidity has vanished, so who am I to complain? :o)
I can’t wait to see what you guys carve next!
    Hugs!
    P.S. Hello, Lou! :o)

  2. What a perfect sketch for that boney guy! I love the details you gave him – spooky eyes – perfect!
The turkeys sippin’ from the birdbath – what a hoot!
Thank you for your kind words over at my blog – they were appreciated.
I’m off to look at more of your lovely creations!
