Pinkfresh Studio Step Into Style for Paper Players Challenge #798

Happy Sunday.

It’s the fabulous Stef’s turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it’s color week. I must admit when I first saw these colors I wasn’t sure in which direction to take them. They are bold and bright and I think would have made a great masculine card but, as usual, my weird mind went in a totally different direction – shoes! And very feminine ones at that :-). So, out came the Step into Style set from Pinkfresh Studio.

So, I wonder, what do these lipstick red soles remind me of? Oh yeah. The single pair of Christian Louboutin shoes that are tucked away in closet that I USED to be able to wear in the day. Even though my old-lady feet can’t deal with them anymore, I refuse to let go of them! I worked long and hard to find a pair that I liked on sale many, many years ago!

Oh, and here’s Stef’s colors:

I decided to focus mostly on the aqua and teal and have the shoes tan with those magical red soles. I decided to leave the butterfly on the back (although it is easy to cut off) and shade it with a lighter blend of the red.

Even though Louboutin’s do not come in Tiffany colored shoe boxes, I thought that in the olden days, a pair of Louboutins and a couple of Tiffany boxes wrapped in their signature white satin ribbon would have been very welcome. Mind you, I would have had to have found a rich sugar daddy for that little fantasy to come true! Anyway, back to reality! 🙂

I decided the background needed lots of texture and brought out an Alex Syberia better press plate. My Sizzix machine must be really tight, or this particular brand of cardstock must be very fibrous because it did make some of the peaks a little furry, but I decided I quite liked it so left it.

I colored and die-cut the shoes and the boxes and then added the sentiment. I have a friend who will truyly appreciate this card, so it will be for her birthday.

On a personal note:

I’ve had fun this past week playing with some new goodies and creating cards for my upcoming challenge commitments. I’ve also been putting into practice some of the techniques I learned in the recent Onlinecardclass and seem to be a little obsessed with kinetic cards right now! I’ll be sharing a couple this coming week. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
