I have a new stamp set to share with you tonight. Ray of Sunshine. It's one that I completely missed in my first run through of the catty but saw it on the second and decided I liked some of the sentiments, so would add it to my order 🙂
When I was looking for sketch challenges this weekend, I saw one that immediately made me think of this new set.

It's a really cool sketch and seemed just right for a sun! Here's my take on the sketch:
I stamped the middle of the sun first and then each of the rays around it. I had to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get decent placement! When I finished stamping the rays, I decided the sun needed a little sumthin' sumthin' and realized that I could cut a circle with my punch, cover it with heat and stick powder and add some distressed glitter to it. Here's a close-up of the glittered sun, it is really pretty in real life
Isn't that pretty? :-) Well, I think so….. :-) It was just the touch that I needed to bring the sun to life. I added a metal button with some gold cord to anchor the sentiment and also be the second circular element for the sketch.

On a personal note:
Firstly, I'd like to wish our very own Colleen and her hubby a VERY, VERY happy 45th wedding anniversary. That's a major achievement these days and I hope they spent a wonderful day together celebrating, just as they deserved.
I also wanted to share a couple of photos I took today. You know I've been talking about putting trees in and how the weather really isn't co-operating. Well, we did manage to get one tree in today BUT…. our tree guy did get stuck trying to get back up the hill! It's really wet. In fact, when he dug the hole for the first tree, we could see why Georgina (our groundhog) had abandoned her burrow. She would have had absolutely no choice. Take a look at the water in the hole
Her burrow is traditionally lower than that, so she would have definitely been flooded out. Anyway, I thought you might like to see the beautiful tree that he brought to fill the hole.
That is an almost 30 foot River Birch. It's beautiful. Our tree guy tagged three of them last year and really chose fabulous specimens. Already, with just one in, we are getting privacy that would have taken years with a normal burlapped tree. He's coming back tomorrow with another 2 for us and, hopefully, will be able to get in the two maples. However, considering the damage to the lawn, we might not be able to do more than the two River Birch for now and may have to wait until it's drier (if it ever gets drier) for the Maples. We are really hoping we can get the maples in…. they are going to be about the same height as the River Birch, which means they will be beautiful.
I also wanted to share this shot with you tonight. It started with one. Then there were two. Now there are 3. I woke this morning to see 3 Great Egrets in the wetland and they have been there all day.
There is one to the right of the first tree from the left. Then the one in the middle. The third one … you can just see his backend poking out from the tree on the right hand edge of the photo.

Sunshine! I love sunshine and this stamp set. I’m on my way to the catty to find it and place an order. :o) I want the Blendabilities as well. :oD
Poor Georgina–no wonder she had to abandon ship. :o( The river birch is stunning and I look forward to seeing the rest of your trees in place. How incredibly amazing they can just spade those trees right in and in a matter of moments you have a full-grown tree! :o)
Those egrets…amazing. I’ve not seen any egrets yet this year. B and I are out on the nature trail three early mornings a week, but so far all we’ve seen are deer, squirrels, rabbits and a couple of osprey.

Beautiful tree and it’s a nice,moderately fast grower and will be even more beautiful come this Fall when the leaves turn yellow. It’s going to be Gorgeous. Looking forward into seeing some Fall pictures.

We received over 2 inches of rain Sunday in short period of time. Not complaining about the rain as it was much needed so enjoying every bit of it.
Hopefully you will be able to get the rest of your trees planted soon but yet it’s nice seeing the wildlife enjoying your wetlands.
