Retro Rainbow

Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday.  I played along with two challenges for this card.

I turned the sketch on its side but other than that, remained pretty true to it.   I have a PTI stamp that is in my stash and knew that this would be ideal for this particular challenge.  It also gave me a chance to use up some card stock scraps, sequins and my cloud embossing folder!

Here's my card

Retrorainbow (1 of 1)

I cut strips of Real Red, Pumpkin, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Marina Mist and Midnight Muse card stock and stuck them to a base.  I then ran my card base through my Big Shot with my SU cloud embossing folder.  I stamped the sentiment in Midnight Muse and then adhered all the layers to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The finishing touch were a few rainbow colored sequins.  Don't forget to pop along to retrosketches and addicted to cas and check out the fabulous cards.

On a personal note

Well, the weather went from 37 one day to 98 the next!  The difference in temperature was astounding.  The lucky thing was that the humidity was exceptionally low, so that helped the 98 degree temperature feel much cooler.   Of course, it was a record high for us at this time of the year.  Luckily today we are back to more normal temperatures.  The grass and the plants are loving it and have sprouted overnight.  It's amazing to see how quickly everything is coming back to life.  Even our little Juniper tree that we planted last year is going green again.  We were really worried about it over winter because it went a golden copper color.  We thought for sure it was dead.  However, it is slowly turning green and I found out that they do change color in winter!

Michelle, this photo is for you

Bunting (1 of 1)

Our Blue Birds are back and are starting to pick up where they left off at the end of summer last year.  However, we saw this little Bunting at our feeder yesterday.

I thought I would share a photo of the Oriole Cafe.  There are seven of them hanging around and they are eating us out of house and home.  We have to take the jelly in at night otherwise we have visits from a little racoon.   However, the Orioles start to shout right outside our bedroom window beginning at about 5.30 am.   This morning I couldn't bear it any longer and had to go downstairs and put out the jelly so that I could go back to sleep!

Orioles (1 of 1)

As always, thank you for stopping by my little kneck of the stamping blogosphere.   Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a lift today.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Wow, an indigo bunting! I’ve never seen one. I looked it up and hadn’t realized that they were so small. I was thinking more grosbeak size. Might just have to pay you a visit to see one. 🙂 And those orioles. I feel myself turning green as I type. You certainly do set out quite the bird buffet, and it’s obvious that they appreciate it.

  2. You know me and rainbows…:o) LOVE this! :o)
One of the sights that I remember most from my childhood was of 6 indigo buntings and 8 goldfinches all at our feeder at the same time. It was insanely colorful and quite stunning.
Your bunting is gorgeous! And, I’m laughing at your orioles being such greedy little piggies, Ha! Reminds me of a certain black ball of fur who starts chasing his tail and pouncing on feet around 5:30 every morning so I’ll get up and feed him and his brother. Oy.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
    Hugs!
    P.S. Howdy, Lou! :o)

  3. Beautiful card Jaydee and sure is fitting after the weather we had last night. Had a mile wide tornado that had touched down about 18 miles from me.
Thanks for sharing your lovely bird photos with us.

  4. What wonderful pictures of these birds! My hubby bought me a bird feeder for Mother’s Day and we’ve been enjoying watching the birds this week. A pesky squirrel got up there this afternoon and did his best to clean it out.
