See Ya Later and Petite Petals for Paper Players #186

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

It's the fabulous Anne-Marie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and I love this color combo.

Now, as many of my blog readers know, I tend to be very conservative with color challenges and have been known…. on (many) an occasion, to feature one of the colors and judiciously use another.   In this case, I really highlighted the use of Crushed Curry.

I wanted to use a stamp from the See Ya Later set and Crushed Curry was the perfect color to feature with this particular sentiment.  The sentiment also inspired me to bring out my Tim Holtz sun stencil.

Here's my card:

See Ya Later

The Crushed Curry Chevron ribbon was a great way to continue the stripes and I balanced that with three Crushed Curry flowers from Petite Petals, which I fussy cut because my punch hasn't arrived yet!

The Wednesday challenge across at Simon Says Stamp is TAG IT! and that was a perfect fit for the sentiment, so I paired the sentiment with a Crushed Curry and Smokey Slate tag combo.  All that was left, was to add a couple of Basic Rhinestones to the middle of the flowers and pop them off the page with some clear double sided tape.

When I had assembled my card, I decided the HAPPY needed to be featured more prominently, so I stamped the sentiment again in Crushed Curry ink, cut it out and popped it off the tag.  Ah!  Much better!

I was really happy with the card and the little pop of Marina Mist helps to lift the sentiment, but allows the bright, sunny hue of Crushed Curry to really pop.

As always, the design team rocked this challenge and have some fabulous inspiration cards for you.  Don't forget to pop along to their blogs and then come back and play along with us.

On a personal note:

Well, this bout of flu really knocked me off my feet, but I am pleased to report that today I am starting to feel much better.  Mmmm…  I wonder if the change in weather helps to make me feel better… oh…. it was wonderful this morning being out and about and feeling a tinge of warmth to the sun!  The chickadees certainly seem to thing Spring is on her way as they were singing from the early hours this morning and I was awoken by their cheery "see saw" mating call.  It was fabulous!

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  6. Hi Jaydee! Bright and cheery, indeed! Love your card today, especially the stencil and 3 little flowers.
So sorry you’ve been feeling so bad. I’m glad to hear that perhaps the worst is over and you’re on the mend now. The birds have been waking me quite early as well and I sure do love to hear them sing! Tuesday will be another gorgeous day in the 60’s, then back to winter for us. Snow coming with a low down to 15 degrees. Good thing is that it is supposed to warm up by the weekend. (Colleen made me laugh, wetting her plants!!)

Honestly, Crushed Curry is a color I rarely use and you really made it a stand-out. I love the stenciled background and you are right, the popped-up sentiment is perfect. Thanks for rocking my color challenge this week! Hugs! 🙂
