Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday night.
Why this card tonight? Lots of reasons… and I'll share a couple with you!
Firstly, the sketch was from the talented team across at crazy4challenges. I don't often use ovals on my card, and thought this was an ideal time to get myself out of my comfort zone. The horizontal strips really add to it, but made it more difficult for me to decide what to do. The only change I made was to put the sentiment as the focal point instead of as an oval at the bottom.
It was the sentiment that got me thinking, especially as I was listening to an audio book at the time that I created the card. The audio book? The Last Lecture by Professor Randy Pausch. This all started with the my card last night – using an inspirational sentiment…
Shaking the world comes in many forms - not least of which is Mother Nature herself. Who can't remember where they were when they realized the incredible devastation of Hurricane Katrina or the massive loss of life on Boxing Day in 2004 when the Tsunami hit the Pacific.
Then there are the acts of terror….. I still remember where I was and what I was doing when John F Kennedy was assassinated. The assassination of Martin Luther King; of Gandhi. I remember, with amazing clarity and numbness, the unfolding of the events on 9/11.
Then there are recent historical events…. ones that I was not a part of… but shook my world in one way or another anyway. The day that Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939; the surrender of Germany on May 7, 1945. For many of you, the shock of December 7, 1941 – the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
I bet we can all remember events that shook the world…. then… there are others who shake our world. They can make us see things – or experience things so differently. Our own personal heroes. For me, it's amazing how many of these events that I remember so well are associated with death.
Randy Pausch is one of those heroes – and one of those people who, in his own quiet, gentle way, shook my little world.
So…. now that you have the background to tonight's card – not quite the light-hearted fair you usually get 🙂 here's my card. If you get the chance, listen to Randy's lecture. It really is amazing.
The motto is….. all of us, in our own quiet way, can shake someone's world in a positive way.
Prayers for Trish, Germaine, Arthur, T, Pri, Angela, John & Sue.
I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday.
Hugs
Jaydee

What an amazing soul Prof. Pausch was. I bet that is an amazing book. Yes, events both historical and more personal can definitely shake your world. We are the sum total of our life experiences. I would not be the person I am without all the good *and* bad events in my life.
That said, this is a wonderful card. The cool color is soothing and calming and really fits the sentiment. You did a wonderful job with the layout. :o)
Ah, and how does Prince Pipsqueak respond to *this* name? ;oP You are keeping PP? Socializing? I love a kitty who chirrups. :o) What a sweet (and LUCKY) boy he is.
Such and fabulous post!!! And a lovely card.

I think that I would love the book by Prof. Pausch. My Father made it a point in my younger years to make sure that I knew what what going on in the world. He said that someday it would make a difference. We would sit for hours and hours discussing different situations and how they would impact the world later on in life. As he was getting on in life he very much enjoyed my company and our talks of the worlds and it’s goings on’s. We asmired many people, some famous and some not so famous for different reasons. Now I miss our talks very much. It may sound “geeky”, but I always preferred to “chat” with Dad rather than run with the crown. He was my best friend. Enough for now.
Jaydee, I love the colors in your card. They just make the Sentiment all the more meaningful to me. I really like what you have done with the sketch, they always intimidate me. You do such a wonderful job with them. Great Card by a Great Artist!
I do hope that there are not too many mistakes in my Post, as the Disease has now spread to the other side of my face and I can barely see at all. If ytou cross youur eyes, that is how I am seeing everything right now, just terrible.
My Best Wishes for Everyone and Prayers going out to All.
Cyber hugs to all, Trish in Wisconsin
