Share a Milkeshake for As You See It challenge #304 & Inkspirational #295

Happy Tuesday.

Today’s is another one featuring the Stampin’ Up! set – Share a Milkshake. I was inspired to use this set when I saw the two challenges across at As You See It Challenge and Inkspirational.

And Jeanne, this ice cream is for you – chocolate!

So, what are the challenges across at As You See It and Inkspirational?

Β  challenge #304

I loved the idea of finishing the sentence…. the thing that I love most about summer is….. the memory of summer as a child.Β  I grew up in the northern part of England and winter is long, cold, wet and dreary.Β  The sun rises at 8 and sets at 4… well, I say the sun rises, but generally, we don’t see it that much in winter – well not when I was a kid, anyway!Β Β Β  So, once summer arrived, the sun would shine like a big yellow ball in the sky and the ice cream van could be heard throughout the neighborhood.Β  Oh… that sound and the feel of warm sunshine on my skin.Β  Such wonderful memories.Β  For me, it was always an ice cream cone,

To create the feel of the big yellow sun, I used a die from the Stampin’ Up! Impossible Blooms set as a stencil.Β  I colored it with bright yellow ink and then die-cut and blended ink onto the cone.Β  I also sprinkled some splatters on the cone and on the base for a little interest.

Here’s my full card:

I had fun with these challenges.Β  1. Remembering summer spent with my bestie and her paddling pool!Β  and 2. Creating a stencil out of a die!

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card.Β  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

Card recipe:

  • Stamps and matching die:Β  Share a Milkshake – Stampin’ Up!
  • Stencil:Β  Die from the Irresistible Blooms set die-cut and used as a stencil

  1. So wonderful, Jaydee – what a great memory to have, and to share! It was always so exciting when the ice cream truck came, I visited with UK relatives quite often when I was a kid, and my cousins taught me to listen for the truck, too – such good times! You brought it all back, lol. Thanks so much for playing at As You See It!

  2. Yep! Same story here in Canada! The sun is so welcome when it comes and so is the ice cream truck! I love that you used that die as a stencil – it’s perfect for the sun! And that ice cream cone looks good enough to eat! Thanks for filling in our blank at As You See It Challenges!

  3. You bet ice cream is the taste of summer! Love your detailed cone – it’s so real, I can almost taste it. Fantastic job. Thanks for joining in with us at As You See it.

  4. How clever to use the die as a stencil. It certainly adds a lot of interest to your beautiful card. Who doesn’t love ice cream?? Enjoy your day!

  5. Jaydee – this is spectacular! I love the background. The waffle cone is really cool and I am going to find a way to recreate that! Great memories of the ice cream truck for me as well. Thanks for playing along with us at As You See It!

  6. Aaah yes, the ice cream van! In Australia it was Mr Whippy and it played the tune Greensleeves. Fond memories indeed! WOW your cone is sooo realistic, and chocolate ice cream with a cherry on top – what’s not to love! Hugs, Kate!

  7. Kate… yeah what is it with greensleeves and I remember the swirls of whipped icream with a flake in the middle if I had the extra money πŸ™‚
