Simple and Not so Simple

Hi Everyone.  Happy Monday night.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.  I certainly did – it was just too short!

I combined two challenges for this card the color scheme from Embellish Magazine. (Kraft, Seafoam, Peach, Cream) and the Sketch: from a fabulous new site I found casestudy challenges

I didn't have seafoam as a color, so used a variation on Baja Breeze.  They are fabulous colors; soft and feminine.

Here's the card I created combining the two challenges.

Waterlilies

Recognize that ribbon?  No?  Not surprised!  I created this ribbon using my markers.  I used Peach Parfait and Baja Breeze markers on Whisper White satin ribbon to create this gorgeous, yummy ribbon!

Card recipe:

  • Sentiment:  Wordsworth  – Life Affirming sentiments
  • Stamp Set:  Artistic Outpost – Thai Buddha
  • Inks:  Peach Parfait, Baja Breeze, Early Espresso
  • Card stock: Whisper White
  • DSP:  Webster's Pages
  • Accessories:  SU Whisper White satin ribbon
  • Tools:  Paper snips, Nestabilities, Stampin' Dimensionals

Card instructions:

  • Cut card stock to 4.25 x 11 and score and fold at 5 1/5 – fold on the top
  • Cut DSP to 4 x 5 1/4 and adhere to card base
  • Cut horizontal layer to 3 3/4 x 1 3/4
  • Stamp water lilies and color.  Cut out with paper snips
  • Cut focal point with nestabilities and stamp sentiment "It's better to travel well than to arrive.  Buddha" in Early Espresso
  • Color ribbon in Peach Parfait and Baja Breeze inks and wrap around card base.  Create bow for additional ribbon and attach to horizontal ribbon using mini glue dots
  • Adhere focal point to card base (including both DSP layers) using stampin' dimensionals
  • Adhere flowers to card base using Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Add half pearls

Tips:

  • I often find myself without the right ribbon.  Satin Ribbon and markers – or classic ink – makes that issue go away.  For this ribbon, I used markers to color the body of the ribbon and the edges, creating a two-tone look that I love.  The satin of the ribbon continues to shine through.
  • You can always use a brayer to ink up the ribbon for a more saturated look.

On a personal note:

The weather was a little cooler tonight… oh yeah!!!!!  I love cooler weather!

Charlie (our stray cat that we rescued) had a very busy day.  He met with each of the other cats today, with different results.  The wegies (Norwegian Forest Cats) are phenomenally friendly and were happy to play along and let him discover his space.  Bailey was his constant shadow.  In fact, Bailey was beginning to feel like the Paparazzi… wherever Charlie went, Bailey was close behind.  Merlin (our 16 year old cat) was not impressed at all!  Muffin, the only female was looking at me as if to say "Oh.  Come ON!  Not another male!!!!!)

Chester is now in the study, fast asleep on a cushion on my desk, all tuckered out.  It was an exhausting day for him, obviously!  He checked out the entire house.  He's really pretty full of himself! 🙂

Cam and Adelle – I got your messages.  Both of you are looking for different information.  Both of these answers would best be settled with a video, but I still don't have a video.  So, I'm trying to work out how I can answer you without that!

Trish, we haven't heard from you.  I do hope that you are OK…..

Prayers for Trish, Germaine, T, Pri, Arthur, Angela, John and Sue.

Thank you to all of you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits, your support and your comments are always much appreciated.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Very lovely card…really like the altered ribbon and the flowers are just precious. I will just suffice to say that I think the card is another fantastic one of your creations.
Sorry I can’t write more…I just got home from Hospital Today, thought I was having a stroke, so took and aspirin and dialed 911. Was taken to Hospital had 3 Head CT Scans, a Lung CT Scan, X-rays, blood work up, EKG, and bunches of other tests. Turned out to be TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA. Very, and debilitatingly painful. I had 3 Shots of Morpheine and some Pain Meds in a one hour period and it didn’t even begin to touch the pain. I was kept in Hospital to be given IV Pain Medication and watched closely. I was in Intensive Care. I am home now, in tons of pain, my jaw is swollen, just like when you go to the dentist and he injects you with a local. I keep biting my lip and my cheek. Please go onto the internet or Google and search out this Condition, you will find absolutely nothing good about it, and where it comes from no body knows. It has certain “triggers”, which can be as simple as a breeze across your cheek, or a gentle rub on your nose to get a stray hair off. Please, please, do me the favor of spending a few minutes of your day and reading and finding out more about this. I had never heard of it before, you will not believe how terribly painful it is. It can put a big, burly Man down in seconds. If you want, just let me know and I can post a link here tomorrow with more information for you. So sorry Jaydee to take up so much of your Blog Post, but I am really suffering here. I only came on to check you out and let you know that I am still here. Please forgive me.
My Well Wishes to Everyone, I know that we are all going through something that we need help with. Prayers to All, may You All be Safe Wrapped In the Arms of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
My Special Friend Jaydee, cyber hugs to you,
