Spellbinders Cool It Cookie Rack for Paper Players Challenge #779

Happy Sunday.

It’s the fabulous Ann’s turn to host our Paper Players challenge and it’s Tic Tac Toe week. Ann has a great board for us and I had fun playing around with a new Spellbinders set called Cool It Cookie Rack. I paired it with Spellbinders Confection Companion embossing folder for a little texture.

Here’s a sneak peek:

I just love this cooling rack. Now, I’m not a baker, but these little cookies look yummy with their sparkly frosting!

Here’s Ann’s TTT board:

For my card I went with die-cut, sparkle and circle. Mind you it also qualified for the diagonal die-cut, flowers and layers:-)

I began by die-cutting the various elements with normal cardstock and metallic cardstock. I found the old SU silver card stock was perfect for the spatula, but used mirror cardstock for the cooling rack itself. (Not that my cooling rack looks that nice and shiny!!!). I die-cut the cookies with kraft cardstock and used colored cardstock for the sparkly frosting and white for the flower and icing.

I die-cut a piece of Neenah 80# cardstock and ran it through my sizzix with the embossing folder. I added some Stickles to the frosting layer and left them aside to dry. Once everything was dry I layered everything up and added the sentiment from the Sugared Expressions sentiment set.

Here’s my card:

I don’t know why, but this just makes me smile! It’s such a well designed set and the embossing folder captures so many of the elements that come with this whole release. Love it!

On a personal note:

Well, after 16″ of snow last week, we hit 75 degrees and went down to 30-something the next day! Oh, yeah, it’s Spring in Minnesota :-). The last couple of days have been in the 30-50 range and we are looking forward to some 50s this coming week. The Junco’s haven’t quite left yet, but we know the will be leaving soon!

On the home front, we have finally decided on the new colors for the main parts of the house. We needed to finish the stairs before we could decide on final colors. The colors are warmer than the current ones and that should make the whole house feel better. The ceiling, which is a strange shade of yellow, is being painted a warm shade of white and that will be carried down the chimney. Right now it’s Hollywood Teeth White and a little stark. :-). The warmer white will make it less cold and stark and will fit the new mantle very well.

The upstairs reading nook is almost ready. We are just waiting for a little drinks table to arrive and will be adding a little art work and it will be getting its new color in a few weeks. It looks so much better now, but will look even better when it’s complete.

This is what it looked like when we first viewed the house:

I really didn’t like the shelves, the carpet, the light fittings (look like comic eyeballs to me and once I had seen that, I couldn’t get that image out of my head – you know the resemble Olive Oyl when she sees Pop-Eye’s muscles :-). And we certainly don’t like the yellow ceiling, the black fan and those darned walls! :-). The minute I saw the upstairs loft area I knew what I wanted to do with it, but it’s taken more than a year to find someone to fix it!

Now, here it is – almost complete:

A much warmer and softer carpet. The eye balls have gone. The walls have gone and been replaced by our new railing system. The open shelves have gone and been replaced with proper bookcases. The chair-and-a-half is the perfect place to curl up into and read a book.

The space breathes now. It’s lighter, brighter, and even though it is open, it’s a lot more cozy. Just another month and the area will be complete with it’s new colors 🙂

This might have been our final snowfall (crossing fingers) for the year, but it sure looked pretty. This was taken less than half way through our storm when there was a little break in the snowfall. Pristine snow, just waiting for someone to go and make snow angels!

Well, that’s all from me this week. I’m hoping to get into my craft room to make some cards for challenges this week. So, I should have something to share with you. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Card recipe:

  • Dies: Cool It Cookie Rack – Spellbinders
  • Embossing folder: Confection Companion – Spellbinders
  • Sentiment: Sugared Expressions – Spellbinders

Hugs

  1. Your baking sheet and cookies are darling, Jaydee! Love how the Stickles look like coarse sugar sprinkled on top of the cookies, and that punny sentiment is fantastic. Your new loft area looks great, and I know you’ll love it even more after you paint it. We have painted almost our entire house since we moved here a year and a half ago, when we bought the house everything was greige–walls *and* ceilings, and the carpet is gray! We’ve painted the ceilings a creamy white to match the baseboards and trim and even that made such a huge difference, though I hope I never have to paint ceilings again!

  2. Oh my goodness, these cookies look good enough to eat! This is adorable! Your collection of dies is amazing and you put them to such good use! Adorable!

  3. Your upstairs area is unrecognisable – you have a talent for making inviting spaces! The card is wonderful. You obviously also have a talent for hunting out stamping products and making them shine. The biscuits looks so delicious and I wish mine looked as good when I bake. 🙂

  4. Oh, Jaydee! What a wonderful card! The colors you selected are a delight. The cookies look delicious with their sprinkles. I can’t resist all of the yummy texture. Thank you for a “sweet” inspiration card. The upstairs reading nook looks like a page out of House Beautiful. Are you sure you were not an interior designer in a previous life? You are so talented!!! Thank you for making my challenge sparkle. Have a wonderful week!

  5. Your card is so fun! I love all the baking elements of this set and it bodes well for those of us who still cook, let alone bake. Very cute and fun.
As for your home – wow! I would come and stay cozy up there in your loft, I promise I won’t make a sound! You’ve done a beautiful job remodeling and choosing colors

  6. That die set is so fun and I love what you created with it, Jaydee! Those cookies are delightful with the glittery frosting and I love that embossed background with all the baking elements on it! Your loft makeover is cozy and inviting. The bookcase looks so much better than the open shelves. No doubt you’ll be happy when everything is complete.

  7. Oh my goodness Jaydee – as someone who loves to bake biscuits (cookies), this card absolutely is my jam!! So many fabulous details – I just love the coordinating background embossing too. As for your makeover – you have transformed that landing space beautifully. You have a real eye for interior design for sure – you are so good at it! I can definitely see myself getting cosy in that chair with a good book ….

  8. Jaydee, this tray of cookies looks delicious! I love all the shiny and all the sprinkles are perfect. SO fun and the embossed background adds so much texture! I love this so much! My mouth dropped when I saw your reading nook. WOW! You are so talented. I would stay in that chair all the time. It is absolutely gorgeous and should be in a magazine! ENJOY! Have a great weekend!
