Tangerine Tango Wings

Hi everyone.  Happy Tuesday night.

Tonight's card uses the clean and simple sketch from cardpositioning systems – it's a really unusual and cool sketch – and the amazing color combo from Stacey:  Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point and Whisper White.  OK… so who doesn't have a hoard for Kiwi Kiss stashed away somewhere… come on… I know you do… I know you do, Cherie!  Me.. I have lots of it.  In fact, I still cannot believe it wasn't one of the colors that Stampin' Up! brought back during the color renovation!

I love this butterfly image – I love what you can do with it.  It is such a strong bold butterfly that it can really hold its own with the very strong color scheme.

So, here's what I came up with!

BTW… I promise you that piece of paper is straight… I even went back and checked it! grrrr

Card recipe:

  • card stock:  Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
  • DSP:  Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango (all retired papers)
  • Inks:  This time I colored my image with Copics as opposed to my SU inks.  I don't have reinkers and really needed this to be a very strong color, so opted for the Copics
  • Accessories:  The brad is part of the new mini catalog collection – LOVE these brads!  The spotlighter (for want of a better word… hey, I might as well make one up!) is actually from the fragments collection by Tim Holtz.

Card instructions:

  • This is a really simple card.  The hardest part was coloring the butterfly – and that is never hard for me, purely because I get such pleasure out of doing it!
  • I stamped the image, then colored it with my markers.  I then trimmed it to fit 2 1/2 x 3 1/2.  The Tangerine Tango layer is 2 3/4 x 3 3/4.  Both layers are adhered using dimensionals.
  • I laid the stripes across the page to emulate the sketch and then adhered the focal point.    Before adhering the top layer though, I poked a hole with my matt pack and passed the brad through the hole in the spoltlighter and the card base and secured it under the Whisper White layer.

Easy, simple and a very bright and colorful scheme that I loved!

On a personal note:   It's much cooler here, but the humidity is still in the 90s.  However, the cooler temperatures make it more bearable.  Lou said the weather in Costa Rica is cool, with very low humidity!  My kind of weather!  I heard last night that this August is already 6 degrees above average temperature wise and we are above average on rainfall.  Guess that might have something to do with the humidity!

We got the designs back for the area around our deck today.  It was nice to know that the landscaper had listened to my requests for local perennials, including perennials that the birds could use to nest in during winter.  Her original idea was all hardscape and exotic plants…. errrr… doesn't quite fit with my fairy grotto garden and the bird and butterfly garden.  But once we had walked around she got it and I think she's done a pretty good job.  She also managed to introduce a couple of plants that I absolutely love including spiderwort and native geraniums.  So, hopefully, we will be able to begin fixing up that bit of garden.  Once it is done – then I can take some pictures for you all.

Talking of pictures… I had to share a second picture of Charlie.  he really is pretty adorable.  The chair in the garage has become "his" chair.  When I go out to visit with him, he goes rushing to the chair immediately and jumps up on it and rubs against it.  Kind of like home base!

Charlie2

Isn't that a sweet little face?  He really has incredibly long legs for a cat  he's never going to be a big cat, he will always be on the delicate side.  Mind you, after he goes into the vet to be neutered tomorrow… I don't think I am going to be on his list of favorite people!

I also wanted to show you a picture of my stamping cupboard.  I am one of those people who likes everything away – I really have to because of the cats.  I always wonder what the cats would do if I had the ribbon on display…. oh boy!  So, Lou and I got this amazing cupboard at Ikea.  We left plenty of room for another one just in case I ever needed it.  When this picture was taken, I hadn't unmounted a lot of my wooden stamps.   I love the ribbon storage.  Also my wheels are in boxes without lids that I bought at Target.  In fact, most of the paper storage, drawers, etc. came for the 'jay.  At night, I can put everything away, close the doors and it's all safe and away from the cats.

The white drawers contain my punches (sorted by type), my brads (yep – I have a brad drawer), my buttons (yep I have a button drawer), etc.  The paper storage is fabulous for the 12 x 12 and designer series paper.  The green boxes contain all of my embossing powders, snail, dimensionals, etc.  Each drawer is for a specific thing, so it makes it really easy for me to find what I need.

You can see the inside of the cupboard with the paper, my paper cutter, the green drawers, spare card stock, etc.

One of these days, I'll take some pics and put together a whole post about my stamping space and my storage.  But, not until I have gotten with RobinK and ordered some of my photographs made into decals that I can put on my wall.  I've been wondering how I can personalize the space.  I'd love to be able to put up some paintings, but, considering I can't actually paint!, I realized I do take some quite decent photographs, so that was the next best thing!

Prayers tonight for Trish, Germaine (glad to hear you are feeling a little better!), T, Pri, Arthur, Hugo, Angela, John and Sue

As always, thank you for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your vists, your support, your comments are always much appreciated.

Have a fabulous Wednesday everyone.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Beautiful butterfly! Charlie is so cute!
Thanks for sharing your cupboard with us! I would love to have one of those in my craft room. It looks so neat and tidy! I would love to come & visit and get ideas from you on organizing your room Jaydee! Too bad you live so far away!
Prayers for all my vyber friends!

  2. Hi Jaydee, wonderful card…love the vivid colors on the Butterfly and then repeated on the card. So cheerful and happy looking. Did the word “INSPIRE” come with your Glass Element or did you do that on your own? I really like that touch, may just have to get some of those for myself. Once again, you enabler, you!!! Oh my goodness, Charlie is adorable, I may just have to have my DH drive up there and collect him. I don’t know how he would fit in with an older female, but I sure would love to have him. Your garden and deck sounds like it is going to be just wonderful, talk about an all Summer Project, wow, this was a biggie. What a great Cupboard you chose to pick out and bring home. My it is big isn’t it? I love all of the room inside it and everything that you can store in there. I really do like it for it’s clean lines, and that you can still see what you have inside so that you actually use it and don’t forget that you have it. Very nice, indeed. I need me one or two of those. Lou, are you listening…I am putting in my early Christmas List. Hee, hee. All of my pieces have come from garage sales and tag sales and don’t look good at all. Someday in the future I will paint them all the same color and see if that doesn’t make a difference. Happy stamping to you.
On Wednesday I am going for a Brain MRI, I am having some side effects the Oncologists doesn’t like with the Chemo. We shall see what the results bring about. My Prayers and Well Wishes to Everyone, stay Happy and Hopeful. This too shall pass.
Cyber hugs to you Jaydee, Trish in Wisconsin

  3. That is such a striking card, Jaydee! That bold stamp, those bold colors, WOW!
Oh, Charlie is such a sweet kitty. I just love his little face. :o) I hope he finds a WONDERFUL forever home.
Hooray for landscapers who listen. I can’t wait to see what she did with your yard. :o)
I’m insanely jealous of Lou and his cool temps and low humidity. I’m sitting here looking out windows that have so much condensation on them it’s running down in drips and drops. Stupid humidity…
I ADORE IKEA! What a fantastic cabinet! I can’t wait to see the rest of your room. :o)
Prayers and hugs for one and all. :o)

  4. Beautiful butterfly with stricking colors. Great card design.
Thanks for sharing your cabinet in your work space. Can’t wait to see where you create. You are definitely an artist.

  5. Thanks for sharing a bit of your stampin space with us, it is nice to see where you create, etc.
Great card-very vivid coloring, you are a talented colorer! I like the effect of the 3 stripes across the card.

  6. Kiwi Kiss? yes oh yes! (I’ve got a big stash of Wild Wasabi as well…ssshhh, don’t tell anyone!) I didn’t really care for Pacific Point the first time around, but seeing it with my beloved Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango it’s growing on me. This is an amazing card Jaydee. Not only do I love the color combo, I can’t wait to get my hands on those brads. (I’m such a child–bright colors and sparkles make me happy!)
That Charlie is still just too cute, I’ve been telling everyone I can think of about the sweetest guy I’ve ever met! (sorry Lou, but, you’re still ranked pretty high on the list 😀 )
Trish, it was good to hear from you today. I’ve been crazy busy lately and haven’t had a chance to send you a note, but I hope you know that you continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Everytime I wear one of my pink ribbon hats I think “This is for Trish-Lord, please give her the strength and courage to continue the fight.”
To One and All, have a wonderful Hump Day-my continued prayers to all of my Cyber friends in need.

  7. Please, please, please please come to my house to organize my stamping space! (Did I say PLEASE?) I promise the weather would be cooler (sadly, that’s been pretty much the story of our summer here in Saskatoon) and you could stamp (maybe you could fix my computer too, since you’re so talented …)
    Lovely card. Lovelier creative space!

  8. I want your cupboard, It looks so neat and stylish!!! fabulous combination of both the colours and the sketch, the butterfly is perfectly coloured! Thanks for sharing at Curtain Call this week Jaydee! 🙂

  9. I really enjoy a look into your space. I need to have things put away as well (bc of the kiddies) and it is nice to have a place for everything to make things easier. I’d love the see the entire space. Your card is lovely and I do hear a lot about Kiwi Kiss. I also love Tangerine Tango and butterfly is just gorgeous. I hope your landscaping is done soon so that you can fully enjoy (and I’m glad she listened!). Have a great Thursday.
