Happy Saturday and greetigs from a snowy Minnesota. It’s the fabulous Joanne’s turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a fun clean and simple theme for us. Actually the theme is perfect for the scene outside my craft room window! For my card I used a set from The Greetery called Cocoa Cozy that I bought on sale during Black Friday.
Here’s a sneak peek:

We can discuss the fact that these are colors I never use later 🙂
Here’s Joanne’s theme:

Such a fun theme – and a fun graphic created by Nance! Yesterday the snow had melted on the grass and it was showing through. However, we had lots of snow overnight and everything is now looking like winter again! So hot cocoa and warm mitts are perfectly appropriate:-)
So, back to the colors. Lilac and purple are colors I hardly ever feature on my cards. I don’t know why, it’s just not a color combo that I favor other than for specific florals. My Mom always used to dress me in lilac when I was a young girl as she said it brought out the green in my eyes! Whatever the reason, I decided to bring out the RV colors and have some fun.
I began my card by die-cutting the mitts with the die and then ran the panel through my die-cutting machine with my snowflake background die.
I die-cut the mits after stamping them and then attached them over the die-cut area on the background panel. I added the other die-cut elements, steam, pine needle, straw and marshmallows and then popped up the mug between the mitts. All that was left was to add a die-cut sentiment. Now, the card isn’t quite as CAS as I would normally do for a CAS challenge but, once again, I totally missed the CAS part of the challenge badge!!!!
Anyway, here’s my full card:

As always, our design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
I hope you will play along with us. We would love to see what YOU create with Joanne’s theme. I’m hoping to get into my craft room in the early part of the week to make some cards. Right now Lou is putting together some Ikea drawers that I purchased to house supplies. Even though we have been in the house now for over a year, I am still trying to get my craft room set up quite right and am hoping that drawers will work better for me than the cabinets!
Before I go I thought I would share a photo of Miss Luna who decided that she would take over Charlie’s bed on my craft table. She might look like the queen of the castle, but it didn’t take long for Charlie to show her the exit! There is something about the look on the faces of Maine Coons – they have the best RBF of any cat! And you don’t have to understand what she’s saying with that face, the look says everything. As for that paw – yep, it’s the Maine Coon drape. They just love draping their paws over everything!

Her muzzle is certainly coming in now that she’s reaching to 10 month mark. It’s hard to believe that she has only been with us since September.
I’ll be back later in the week. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Card recipe:

Jaydee, you always have the best stamps and dies! This card is AMAZING in its shades of lilac and purple. The cup of hot cocoa looks so inviting on a cold day like the one we are having here in Iowa. The speckled graniteware mug would be so special from which to sip. I love how you placed the wisp of steam in front of the sentiment – what a great detail! Of course, as lovely as your card is, beautiful Luna steals the show! Her expression is priceless! Have a wonderful week and stay warm!
This is so cute! In fact, I had a cup of cocoa just today—and then went out sledding! My priorities might be in the wrong order! These shades are ones I don’t usually use either, so it’s fun to see them!
While not the norm, you nailed the colors! I think they work perfectly with your warm winter mittens and hot cocoa. But I think you nailed it with this card!
I think there’s something to be said about “the generation” of women who love purples, when I had my girls, all 4 grandmothers (two plus two steps), LoVeD any shade of purple known to mankind. My 3 girls grew up in many shades over the years, and now they all would rather leave purple for anything else including black!
Luna is a beauty! Love the Maine Coons, a neighbor of ours breeds them and they are so gorgeous, especially that regal head!
I love this fun, warm card, Jaydee. Here in Delaware, we have had snow over the weekend and again last night. Lots of animal tracks all around. Fun to be inside and no where to go today. Enjoy your day!
I love your card, Jaydee, I think the purple and pink color combo is fabulous! Purple used to be my favorite color, and royal purple was one of my wedding colors, but I have since gravitated more towards green and purple is now second. But let’s be real, I love almost all colors : ) Miss Luna is adorable too, I have seen pictures comparing Maine coons to Ron Perlman and I have to say I do see the resemblance. I’ve only ever had dogs, but I am perfectly happy to pet other people’s cats! Please tell Miss Luna that she has amazing ears.
OMG, such a cute card, Jaydee! I love purple, and it looks fantastic as part of this cute, cozy scene! Adding the bits in the mug is a cute addition and the background couldn’t be more perfect. Thank you for sharing your cat photos (and outdoor scene photos too!). I love cats and Miss Luna is looking pretty darn regal in Charlie’s bed. She’s a beauty.
This card is amazing! I love the warm, cozy vibe!
Jaydee, I agree with Ann! YOU have the BEST stamps. I love the purple and pink color combo! It just pops off the white background. Peppermint and marshmellows are the perfect compliment to hot chocolate. Miss Luna is a beauty and I know she has stolen your heart. Have a great weekend! Stay warm!
Oh I love me some purple Jaydee – these mittens, mug and that fab retro-styled sentiment are totally in my wheelhouse! This card is full of warm and cosy vibes – I love it!
