Thinking of you

Hi Everyone

Happy Tuesday night… it's been a long two days sitting at my computer screen and my eyes are too tired to read or stamp tonight.  So, it will be a night of relaxation and chilling and maybe a long bubble bath with a glass of wine!

However, before I go off and do that… I did want to share with you tonight's card… and yes… it is ANOTHER dragonfly.  But I promise, this one is done very differently.  This time I used a technique that involves a stylus, vellum and my piercing matt.  You can consider this one as my clean and simple makeover of last night's card!

This is another one of the cards that I will be sending to tayloredexpressions.

I didn't take pictures whilst I was making this card, but I did for another card using the same technique.  I can't show you that card though… cos its being sent to one of my loyal and adored readers!!!  So, if you are interested, I will certainly do a tutorial on this technique.  It's gorgeous in person and I think is perfect for the dragonfly.. mind you, I've also used it on the daffodils from the Abundant Hope.. just haven't found a way to use those yet!

Measure of Life - thinking of you

I know it's pretty tough to see the image on the vellum, let me try a closeup… also… i don't know why but i just cant get the colors right these days when Im importing… this card uses Rose Red and you know how beautiful that color is.

Moftoy closeup

So, this is the dragonfly stamped on Vellum.  I know you can't see the detail too much, but I tried to play around with the exposure and things so that you would be able to see the white on the wings.  Can you see the way that the image of the dragonfly is actually embossed from the Vellum?  I couldn't get a pic that would show that.

What I did was to stamp the image on Vellum using StazOn.  I then had to let it dry so that it wouldn't smudge.  Once it was dry, I took my stylus and put the image over the piercing matt.  I ran my stylus around the dragon fly image on the outside from the top of the image.

I then turned it over and working with the bigger end of my stylus, I went in little circles all around the inside of the areas where I had embossed the outer image.  You have to be careful, cos this is Vellum… I then turned it over and continued working it from the top side, then the bottom side, then the top side again.

Why?  Cos, this embosses the image and also turns it somewhat transparent.  Once I had the right amount of embossing, I used the underside of the image to color the body of the dragonfly in Rose Red and the wings of the dragonfly with Whisper White crayons and markers.  Doing it from the underside gives color, without too much.

I love it… and wish you could feel it… well, one of you will be, soon!  BUT on a card with a totally different design 🙂

I love the mixture of the Rose Red with the Basic Grey ribbon and tonight's card is cleaner than yesterday's.  But… I still love it.

I have to tell you that this technique, for those of you who have not used it before, is very addictive and very meditative.  You have to concentrate and it takes a while… but it is really relaxing to do!

Brenda… I know you will appreciate my bow tying 🙂 even if I didn't trim the fray off the ribbon until after I had taken the photo!

Bailey… the big-girl's-blouse-helper got into the cookie jar last night!  I have a filing cabinet under my desk, where I store all my card stock, scraps and matching ribbon – alphabetically, of course! and a little packet of treats in the top drawer…. bribes are always a good thing when you are trying to buy cats to keep you company :-)  I wonder if that would work with George Clooney? 🙂

well, Bailey suddenly discovered the source of the treats.  I came down stairs tonight and he had stood on his hind legs and pulled the drawer open.  He had then extracted the treat packet from the back of the drawer and had bit open a hole in the side of the packet and helped himself to treats.  No wonder he wasn't hungry this morning!!!  I'm going to have to childproof my cupboards.  BRENDA… this is all your fault..you were the one who introduced him to Party Mix treats!

On that note… I thank you all for visiting my blog and for sharing a little portion of your day with me.  I know that you have MANY options to chose from in blogs… and appreciate you taking the time to visit mine.

Have a fabulous, fun-filled, laughter-filled Wednesday.

Hugs

Jaydee

OH….. and… blog candy starts tonight….. it's my birthday this month… and no Cherie, we aren't discussing that I'M THAT OLD!!!  However, because I think birthday's are a momentous occasion, I will be offering blog candy for my loyal blog readers.  Check out this post tomorrow night – it involves free SU goodies… and SU goodies you can't buy…except probably on a famous auction site at some ridiculous price :-).. So don't forget… leave a comment and you will be entered into the draw.  I know you don't need an incentive to comment – you are all so fabulous at that… but it gives me an opportunity to say thank you to one of you!

  3. AWESOME card, I so glad you found this set. I’m totally in awe of your work and absolutely LOVE how you can show one set, or one layout for that matter, in so many different ways.
Can’t wait to celebrate your b-day, now when Mr Jensen asks I’ll just tell him you’re another year older than the last time he asked! 🙂 Thanks for the smile!
Enjoy the sunshine and have a wonderful day!

  4. I love this card! The colors are perfect and that bow just finishes it off! The technique sounds difficult, but probably not for you!
Hey, this is my birthday month too! I barely escaped being an April Fool’s baby! March 31st!
(and this one is a big one for me 🙂 What day is your birthday?

  5. Cats and treats…I don’t even want to go there.
Love the card. How can I possibly love oh, so many of your cards? Quite simply, they are all so beautiful and wonderfully made. The grey ribbon is to die for, and I want that Stamp so badly. I just adore that dragonfly. I could barely make out on the screen where some embossing had been done, but it didn’t look like circles, it looked like straight lines. I am going to have to try this technique, but I am betting that you used a heavier weight vellum and not the real thin stuff. Am I correct? I think I said this once before, but your ability to mix colors is wondeful, so much better than mine. I wished that I knew how you did it. I know that you are not going to tell us what day your Birthday is, although we will probably find out afterwards, so I will just have to wish you a “VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY” from me to you, every day! Have a great one, and thanks for sharing the technique with us. May you always be Blessed.
    “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” to you,
    “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” to you,

  6. Jaydee, That is such a beautiful card and I love it. The vellum adds a soft and subtle image and you achieved that beautifully. Hmm, I wish I have that set. Well, at least I know I can come visit this blog to admire your creation from this set 🙂 HBTY.
