Trinity Stamps Grate, Grater, Gratest for Paper Players Challenge #781

Happy Sunday.

It’s the fabulous Antipodean Jan’s turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it’s color week. I have absolutely no idea why these specific colors led me to cheese, but there you go. That’s just how my strange mind works 🙂

I brought out a set I haven’t used yet called Grate, Grater and Gratest from Trinity Stamps, as well as a background stencil called Cheesey for my card. I kept my card pretty clean and simple.

Here’s a sneak peek:

And here are Jan’s colors:

I began by creating the base for the focal point. I used the Cheesey stencil to create some circles in the top portion of the card and left the rest of it plain white.

I die-cut two tags, one in black and one in white as I needed something to anchor the cheese and the grater. I then stamped and fussy cut the focal elements and added a sentiment to the white tag.

Now, generally I am not into anthropomorphism, but I must admit this latest trend of giving food human qualities tickles my sense of humor. I mean, who can resist these two?

Here’s my full card:

As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Well, Spring is almost here. We have had several rain showers and it has been wonderful to see little green sprouts coming up on some of the plants. The ground is still too cold for most of the plantings, but at least we can see something green. We have opportunities for rain again this week and some wonderful temps in the 70s, so things should start moving along very quickly. Still no hummers in Minnesota yet, but the Junco’s have migrated north. In addition the Chickadee’s have been making their see-saw, see-saw calls and we know they are mating. There’s something about these long Minnesota winters that make you really appreciate Spring!

My craft room still isn’t quite ready, but it is close. I got most of my artwork framed this week and Lou will be staining the tops of my cupboards. Once we have done that all that’s left is to paint the trim and the door. I’m still trying to work out how best to layout my most used goodies, but the arrangement for everything else is working out great. Now, I just need to buckle down and do more creating to make this whole thing worthwhile!

Our next big project is the master bathroom. We are waiting for a price from the tile company to see whether we can really make this happen. If we can make it happen then we should be starting around August and be finished by September. Just in time for me to look forward to having a nice soaking bath in the fall and winter months 🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers to all of you who need a little lift tonight and hoping that Antipodean Jan and her neighbors miss the worst of Cyclone Vaianu!

  1. Jaydee, your card made me SMILE!!!!! Such a fabulous way to use these colors. Your cheese is the GRATEST! The stencil is the perfect backdrop, too! FUN, FUN, FUN!
I wish you would come and help me organize my craft area. I need to buckle down and start getting it organized!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to see pictures. Have a great week, My Friend!

  2. I love your little cheese and grater! They definitely made me smile, and are perfect for Jan’s color combo! CUTE! I am enjoying hearing about your birds–we have juncos, chickadees, bluebirds, grackles, hairy, downy, red-bellied and pileated woodpeckers, bluejays, cardinals, goldfinches and a few more! I love them all—well, maybe not the grackles!

  3. I’m surprised these colours didn’t lead me to cheese – as I do love a good cheese! Must have been that dairy farm upbringing! I also love a good pun so this card was already in my good books. The addition of those circles – the not-holes in the cheese – were an absolute masterstroke! Thank you for taking my colours and making me smile! 🙂

  4. Thoughts of cheese would not have entered my mind with these colors, but I also am a cheese fanatic! Your card is adorably cute. You have so many fun food sets that I’m wondering why I do not — uh I feel another enabling coming on!

  5. I think cheese is one of the four basic food groups (another one is chocolate and to be honest I’m not sure about the other two), so I think this card is just grate! It’s a fabulous way to use the colors and I always love a good pun. Have a wonderful week!

  6. This is such a fun card, Jaydee! Seriously, who can resist the smiley faces on the grater and cheese. Just so cute and a great design!

  7. Oh, Jaydee! Your card is SO cute! I don’t know which is more adorable … the smiling cheese or the smiling grater. I can’t resist either of them, or the punny sentiment! What a day brightener this card is! Have a wonderful weekend!

  8. Isn’t it funny how certain colour combos remind us of specific things? Your cheese and grater combo properly made me smile Jaydee and combined with the fun background and chuckle-worthy sentiment it’s a winner – I mean, who can resist those cheesy grins?! (Couldn’t resist!)
