Hi Everyone. Happy Monday. Hope you are all having a great start to your Thanksgiving week!
I got time to play in my craft room this weekend and played with some new goodies. One of them was my new Vintage Teacup set from Altenew. As an avid tea drinker, I knew this set was a must have item for me as soon as I saw the pre-release.
I saw this great color challenge across at Just Us Girls and decided it was perfect for me to ink up this new set.
The "gold" in the color challenge gave me the perfect excuse to bring out my Kuretake Metallic watercolors again. I must admit I am absolutely addicted to them.
I began by stamping the cup multiple times on a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock to create a background. I then used my Copic markers to color them a pale shade of purple – and down to a pale violet for the cups – and added purple and gold to the leaves and flowers. I then used the gold watercolor metallic paints to color the cup handles and bases. I used my teal colored markers to color the background around the cups. I mounted the front onto a piece of Elegant Eggplant card stock and used that same card stock for the sentiment, which was heat embossed with gold. To add just a little more gold and tie the sentiment into the background even more, I took the same gold watercolor paint and added it to a small strip of spare Neenah solar white card stock and added that to the bottom of the sentiment.
Here's my card:
Looking at the photo – I have a finger mark on my camera that has made it look as though one of the flowers is smudged…. I really need to clean my lens!
This card is one of those cards that looks much better in hand than it does in photographs. It's really hard to capture how beautiful the gold metallic is and how soft the violet is on the cups. However… you get the idea 🙂
On a personal note:
I was out on the porch last Thursday – on our last warm day before reality hit. I was struck with how gorgeous the native grasses look with their fall colors. The birds love their seeds, but I am in love with their colors!
The Aster's were trying to so hard to hang on their their last few flowers:
And the Coreposis was doing the same…… just a couple of petals left hanging on to the last days of fall.
However….. on Friday afternoon – this is what it looked like!
The Coreopsis, the grasses and the Aster – all covered in snow!!! However, I cannot complain, I enjoyed the colors and the warmth for as long as I could… and was thrilled to see the first snow falling and looking magical. 🙂 In fact, I wasn't feeling Christmas-y until the snow fell and then I got all excited about decorating and getting ready for the most magical time of the year.
I'll be back with another card tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Beautiful card. It is finally winter in your part of the woods. Now send us more beautiful photos of your winter wonderland. It is cold here in VA too but nothing like yours.
I love the fact that you can see the beauty in something as common as grass—-takes a special person to appreciate God’s hand in such things—-thanks for reminding us to look for Him everywhere.
Gorgeous tea cup card Thanks for joining in at JUS
Yes, a beautiful card, Jaydee. I too drink tea (and Diet Coke to be honest) 🙂
