It’s the fabulous Claire’s turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it’s color week. I have no idea why this color scheme had me reaching for my Happy Crabs from Waffleflower! My mind does indeed work in mysterious ways:-)
And here are Claire’s colors for our challenge this week and, as you can see, they are perfect fall colors, but in my head they were perfect crab colors 🙂

As with all of our color challenges, neutrals are a freebie. For my neutral I chose some Desert Storm card stock which I splattered with various colors of ink that I had used for my crabs.
Once I had completed the card base, I started working on the focal elements – my two little crabs. I die-cut them with white card stock and then blended them with my inks. I never cease to be amazed how you can transform white cardstock with a little bit of ink!
Once my crabs were ready, I assembled them – adding some foam squares between the body and the shell to give a little dimension. I also added some color to the shell and adhered that to the claw of one of the crabs.
The sentiments were easy. They are pre-cut subsentiments and I used three of them for my card. I finished off the crabs with whites for their eyes and the card was complete.

On a personal note:
Just a reminder, in case you missed it, my blog is moving to a new platform and will have a different look and feel when you next see a blog post from me. I won’t be blogging for a couple of days as I want to create all new content from the new platform. So, fittingly, this will be my last post from typepad, which has been my blogging home since 2009. Sadly, the fact that typepad has become increasingly more difficult to use and is not being updated, has necessitated a move for me. Thankfully, all of my posts from here have been moved across to the new platform so will be available. The harder part is that the photos do not move across, so I have to do that manually for every post. So far all of 2025 and 2024 are complete, as is some of 2023. The rest… will happen over time.
So, I will be back later in the week – with a whole new look and feel! In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Card recipe:
- Dies: Happy Crabs – Waffleflower
- Cardstock: Neenah Desert Storm blended with various browns and splattered with the ink colors from the crabs.

I love how your mind works, Jaydee! When I saw how you used the colors, I was struck with what a brilliant and unexpected choice it was. The entire scene is so cute and of course the punny sentiment is fabulous. By now you’ve probably finished up with your platform change, so I hope you see this and that all went well!
Stef, it’s a good job that most people don’t know how my mind works :-). The crabs are so cute they just make me smile! hugs

Jaydee these crabs are so cute and an inspired use of this week’s colours! I am loving the new blog look and feel too. You made your transition look so easy; I have been trying to move mine too for a while, but it becomes a real stop-start effort. I really need to knuckle down and JUST DO IT!
