Happy Tuesday and welcome to my brand new blog! It’s no surprise that my first blog post should feature florals! I do seem to have an awful lot of crafting goodies that have florals on them.
I purchased the Altenew Delicate Magnolia dies because I loved the soft feel of them. I used some paper designed especially for crafting things like these flowers. It is especially designed to be manipulated and worked beautifully for my florals.
I also used colors I don’t normally use – peaches, olives and a warm gray. Absolutely zero stamping on this card, but it does have embellishments! Something else I don’t use a lot of but the Flower Challenge this month is to add some. So add some I did 🙂
I began making my card with the base layer. I ran a piece of warm gray cardstock through my Gina K Intricut with my Spellbinders Leafy 3D embossing folder (obsessed with this folder by the way!). I then die-cut the magnolias with the special paper and blended them with 4 different colors of ink and then layered and adhered them. The die doesn’t come with leaves so I pulled some that I had in my stash from a recent card project featuring Pinkfresh Studios washi tape – they were the perfect color and, because they were die-cut on vellum added a touch of softness.
I then die-cut the sentiments with a die set from Waffleflower called Print and Script With Love. I then added all the sentiments to the focal layer and went to work adding some embellishments.
I embellished each of the floral centers, added dewdrops on the leaves and petals and even added another larger dewdrop for the tiddle over the i on the die-cut with.
Here’s my card:

I am in love with that paper. You can see all the details from the die because the paper is so pliable and, of course, I love all the detail in the embossing folder. I also love these colors together!
Oh, and here is the challenge from Flower Challenge:

I know the team would love you to play along with their challenge and you have until the 24th to do so!
On a personal note:
Well, it’s taken a few days, but here I am on my new blogging platform. My whole blog should have a more modern and easy to use format. I also love the fact that I don’t have to try sometimes 15-20 times to add a photograph to my post, which is the situation I had gotten into on typepad. The whole user interface for creating blog posts is so much easier. I have moved across my feedblitz email addresses, so, hopefully that should work for those of you who have elected to receive updates that way. Also, the new platform should make it easier to sign up for updates as I had been informed that there were issues doing that with typepad.
In addition to the new blog design, you will notice that my watermark on my cards has also changed. I was not in love with the last one and prefer this new one. It did take me ages to get exactly what I wanted though!
Here are the items I used on my card:
- Dies: Delicate Magnolia – Altenew
- Sentiment dies: Print and Script With Love – Waffle Flower
- Embossing folder: Leafy 3D – Spellbinders
I’ll be back with another card tomorrow. In the meantime warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a lift tonight.
Hugs
