Happy Friday.
I saw a great sketch across at Freshly Made this week and had to play along. I had so many ideas for this sketch but noticed I had the new Happy Submarine die from Waffle Flower sitting on my desk waiting to be used. I apologize in advance for the fact that you may now be experiencing Involuntary Musical Imagery (what a ridiculous description of an earworm btw!). Sing along with me now…. “We all live in a yellow submarine. A yellow submarine” :-). I know I could have made it ANY color, but it just had to be yellow!

I had to pair this die with the Altenew Land to Sea embossing folder. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorites!

I almost never make cards without a sentiment, but made an exception in this case. I loved the clean and simple feel of the sketch and wanted to keep that in my card. Plus, the little speech bubble with the almost imperceptible heart, says all it needs to say 🙂
I die-cut and assembled the pieces for the submarine. I also used Crystal Effects inside the windows. It’s hard to see in the photo, but they look really shiny in real life.
I ran a piece of dark navy cardstock through my Sizzix with the Altenew embossing folder and then used some embossing paste and my Simon Says Stamp snowfall stencil to create the bubbles to emulate the background on the sketch. I then popped up the submarine and the sentiment bubble with foam tape and the card was complete.

Yellow submarine. Yellow submarine! I have to tell you honestly, that I completely went off the beatles when they did the movie – it was just waaaay too out there for my little brain to contemplate. However, I cannot think about the word submarine without the prefix of yellow coming to mind :-). This little submarine from Waffle Flower certainly matches up to its name – Happy Submarine!
