Waffle Flower Happy Crabs for Paper Players Challenge #753

Happy Sunday.

It’s the fabulous Joanne’s turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it’s tic-tac-toe week! When I saw the board I had my Happy Crabs set out on my desk and decided it was perfect for the TTT board. And, of course, as I was making a pirate themed card, I HAD to use the Waffle Flower Open Book die to make it reminiscent of Treasure Island 🙂

Here’s a sneak peek of my card:

Oh…. I love this little crab and his add ons. As an aside this card has already been sent off with 240 other to Creative Kindness. Creative Kindness is an initiative set up by Scrapbook.com and you can read about it here.

And here is Joanne’s TTT board:

For my card I went with animal, bright colors and celebration.

I die-cut the crab and colored him by blending inks onto the Neenah Solar White pieces. I just love adding color with inks as opposed to using colored cardstock as I can get just the colors I want. The pirate hat was the only piece that was created with colored cardstock.

I used the Inquisite Crabs Pirate Add stamps on dies to create the extra elements for my card. The background DSP came free as part of a scrapbook.com order and was just perfect for the theme. I added a birthday sentiment and added it to the crab claw. Here’s my card:

I honestly can’t tell you how much fun I had creating this card. It’s also perfect for male or female.. .honestly I would have loved this card as I was crazy about Treasure Island!

I hope you will join us and play along with our challenge. We would love to see what you create with Joanne’s TTT board. As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Well, the weather here has been absolutely perfect and we have been workiing on fixing up the deck. We finally managed to get out and spend some time there. I love being out there and coloring in the bright daylight. Our deck is north facing so we get lots of great shade and I get to listen to the birds and watch my favorite deer come and visit.

I could hear her in the woods and suddenly she appeared. She stopped, looked at me, took several steps forward for a better look. I just sat on my seat and didn’t move and eventually she decided I was OK and went about her business, and I got back to coloring. We kept each other company for about 10 minutes before she quietly went back into the woods.

I can’t tell you how wonderful it is being back in a place where we have a garden, green space and critters that visit us!

As much as I love being outside, Charlie doesn’t like it so much because he can’t get to me. Most days he’s perfectly OK with it, but yesterday, he decided he really wanted to cuddle. He sat at the sunroom door and scratched away. After a couple of minutes he gave up and settled down on the coir mat instead!

Charlie is more like a dog than a cat. He’s a one-person cat and I am his person. When someone comes into the house he will guard me like he’s a rottweiler. He doesn’t go far and will growl if someone gets too close! He really is a very, very special cat. It’s hard to believe that we found him abandoned at the side of a corn field in the middle of nowhere in 2009. I spent a few weeks trying to find him a home as we already had more cats than we needed. However, it was kitten season and no-one would take him. So, we kept him, and I am grateful every day that we did.

I am hoping to get into my craft room tomorrow so should have some cards to share with you. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.

Card recipe:

  • Dies: Happy Crabs – Waffle Flower. Open Book – Waffle Flower
  • Stamps and dies: Inquisitive Crab Pirate Add ons – Waffle Flower

Hugs

  1. What a super fun card, Jaydee! Love the whole pirate scenario and I agree, anyone, young or old, would love to receive your card. I especially think the map is a hoot!

  2. I don’t think I have ever seen a card that screams fun like this one, Jaydee! This buccaneer crab with his treasure map had me grinning from ear to ear. Anyone of any age would LOVE to find this card in their mailbox. Have a wonderful week!

  3. This card is so much fun! I’ve loved that book die each time I’ve seen you use it and didn’t think it could be any better – until I saw it mixed up with a pirate-speaking crab. Truly a treasure and a card for everyone!

  4. There is just so much to love about this card Jaydee! The realistically coloured crab, the treasure island book, fab map-like paper and the perfect sentiments too; pirate-themed perfection! Great outdoor photos too.
