You are a Star

Hi Everyone, Happy Monday night.

Tonight I have a very quick post for you.

As you may all know by now, I am busy creating cards for the Operation Write Home card drive.  Occasionally I find stamp sets that I wouldn't normally buy, but think work so well for the servicemen and women.  I found a stamp set recently, that fit that bill.  I thought these images were perfect to send home to children.

You saw that I used the new striped embossing folder on last night's card – and I used it on this one, too.  This is another one of those cards that I created a couple of weeks ago and haven't loaded yet.  I love it.  I love the bright colors, the striped embossing folder… yes, consider my officially in love with this new folder!!! and, of course, I had to use one of the new In Colors – Calypso Coral for the card base.  It works well with the Daffodil Delight scalloped border and the Cajun Craze sentiment.

Isn't that just super cute?  I think so 🙂

To get the texture on the card stock, I ran the embossing folder through my Big Shot and then used my sanding block to distress the top layer and add that little bit of texture.

Here's what I used for the card:

  • Card stock:  Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight
  • Stamp set: Gina K
  • Inks:  Cajun Craze Classic Ink,  Copic markers used to color the star fish
  • Tools:  Scallop border punch, Big Shot, Stripes Embossing Folder, Sanding Block, Stampin Dimensionals – used to lift the starfish.

On a personal note:

Lou and I finalized on the new tile for our bathroom…. I can honestly say that I am madly in love with the new tile for the floor.  We have slate down in the shower and love it, but it's a bit fiddly to have to keep refreshing it twice a year, so we decided to do a porcelain version for the bathroom floor… then we decided that as we were tearing out the floor tiles in there, we might as well put heating underneath, too.  Seriously, this all started because I HATE the bath in the bathroom… for 13 years I have wanted to change it… Finally.. I get the bath of my dreams and get to finish off the bathroom…..  oh.. and get warm floors in winter!  I can't wait to get started and show you the before and after.  Mind you, our bathroom isn't exactly the before and after – cos we have already changed much of it, but this reno takes it to an entirely different level!  Can you tell that I am excited 🙂

Prayers and hugs for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

As always, thank you so much for your visit – you know it means a great deal to me.

Don't forget to let me know if you are going to be sending some cards in the for OWH card drive.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Such a fun card that is sure to bring a smile to the recipient. The colors are so bright. I have the coral ink pad, but have not broken into it yet. So exciting to get your bathroom done & with heated floors! So cool!

  2. This is just adorable!!!! Love the way you used the stripe embossing folder too.
You’ll have to post pics of that wonderful sounding bathroom when it’s finished!

  3. This card is just perfect for the OWH. I was hoping to send mine out today, but nope, didn’t make it to the post office…will try again tomorrow. I would like to see the before and after of your bathroom renovation. We wanted to do the same just haven’t had the time. Maybe this will motivate me…you see how much influence you have with your blogging…smile.

  4. I really like this card…such a fun card. So cheery too.
So glad you are putting heating under your tiles. I can’t believe how many people don’t put heating in and hate their floors because the floor is so cold in the winter. Can’t wait to see your before and after.

  5. Great card for a child to receive. I love the sentiment and also that striped embossing folder. I just might have to buy that folder!

  6. What a very cute and sweet kid’s set. That is an adorable card, Jaydee. The colors work beautifully together and I do like that embossing folder. :o)
One of the things I most disliked about our tile flooring (which was beautiful to look at but so VERY poorly installed) was hold COLD it was in the winter. I’m jealous of your heated towel bars and flooring. That’s going to be incredible come winter!
I have cards for you, but not many. It’s been a crazy busy summer here. How moms with kiddos manage to get any stamping done I’ll never know…:shakes head:
Howdy, Lou! I hope all is well with you and that you are rested from that last trip.
Hugs and prayers to all in need. :o)

  7. Very cute card and I do love the emboss folder. Thanks for sharing.
Oh you are going to love your tile floor. We have tile in the baths and kitchen and I wouldn’t want anything else on my floors.
To remove old tile in our motorhome, John used a heating gun operated by propane. Warm the squares up and of course that warmed the glue under them and it came off pretty easy. Have fun!

  8. This card is really cheery, ideal for someone that misses their military-parent.
I can imagine how excited you are with the new floors. We are working on our whole house, outside first and what a job!
    God bless you and Lou.
