Happy Monday.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I managed to get into my craft room and make some cards yesterday. I went looking for some inspiration and saw a great challenge across at Inkspirational. I loved the idea of the palette of flowers and went looking for something in my stash that would work. After some dilly-dallying, I decided to ink up a set that I bought years ago called DIY Flowers and it’s from Alexandra Renke. I have no idea why, but it has been sitting in my craft stash and has never been inked! Sacrilege! I thought it was ideal for the inspiration photo.
Here’s a sneak peek:

I love the fact that this set combines both art/craft accessories and flowers! Which seemed perfect for the inspiration photo:

I began by stamping and coloring the individual elements. As I don’t have matching dies, I needed to fussy cut around each of the floral/art pieces.
I then die-cut a focal layer from an Altenew set called Mix and Match Frames. I added yellow ink blending to the top of that layer, and pink to the bottom. I wanted to echo the colors of the florals and that doing it on the focal layer would be the best approach.
I found a sentiment from Spellbinders Typewriter Adventures. I got this set on sale at Spellbinders and, even though I didn’t get any of the other stamps that went with this collection, I have found that this has quickly become my go to sentiment set. It covers so many different occasions and the size is perfect. I am so pleased I managed to get it before it disappeared from Spellbinders online store!
Once the focal layer was complete, I added some spare cardstock behind it and adhered it to the card base. I’ve stopped using foam for layers behind panels as I find it a) expensive, b) unreliable through the post c) I never seem to have the right size piece to fit and d) never quite find the right glue for it! Something I never have a shortage of? Cardstock pieces! I also know they work through the post, I have the right glue for them, and I can easily cut them to size.
I then used foam dots to pop up the floral parts of the images and adhered the rest of the elements to the focal layer.
Here’s my card:

Having made this card I cannot work out why it has taken me so long to use this set!!!
I am hoping to be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Card recipe:
- Stamps: DIY Flowers – Alexandra Renke
- Dies: Mix and Match – Altenew

What lovely soft colors on this, Jaydee, and a wonderful ‘crafty’ floral arrangement with the scissors and bottle of glue! Thanks for joining us at Inkspirational:Visual Prompt! Julia xx
You’ve made this floral card a beauty! I do love the combination of flowers and art supplies, as that is right up our alley, isn’t it?! Your colors are dreamy, I love the diagonal blending, it adds a unique layer of the colors
