Quick card and some garden visitor photos for you tonight.
This week is a really busy week at work for me… starting with early morning calls and finishing with late evening calls with colleagues in Asia. So, my posts will be really short. I hope you will all forgive me.
So, before I show you my card for tonight….Let's take a look at a photo that I took during our storm today. 7" of new snow I might add.
See anything……other than trees and the railing:-) Well, if you take your eye down to the bottom of the photo, just above the snow …. in the middle of the photo… what's that… hanging about in the tree? Well, I'll keep you guessing whilst I share a card with you!
This layout is becoming a fall to layout for me. I used Anne Marie's paper players color scheme from a fw weeks ago; Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit and Midnight Muse. You can see my original card for the challenge on this post.
This time, though, I completely toned down the Primrose Petals and kept it to the flower. I used a little scoring to help ground and frame the sentiment and added a button and some gold cord to finish it off. The sentiment comes from Papertrey Ink and is a set called All About You.
Now, let's get to the exciting stuff. You all know that I am crazy about our Pileated visitors as well as our Redtail and Cooper's Hawk…. well, today's visitor was even more exciting. I've only ever HEARD this visitor before, so was very excited when Lou woke me up this morning and made me get out of bed to take a look at our visitor. Immediately I saw him I rushed downstairs in my nightie to grab my camera. He was hanging around in the fork of one of our trees. he was pretty hard to get a good shot of. The light was low and he was pretty well camoflaged in the fork of the tree. So….
lookee here… what do we have?
Yep… a barred owl! I was super excited to see him. We were even more excited when we realized he hadn't actually left our woodland, but was still hanging around. I got a much better shot of him this time around. He was hiding under a branch, with his eyes closed, avoiding the snow! he was using the branch like a little umbrella.
If you look closely, you can see a little woodpecker hanging around on the branch above him. It helps to give you some sense of scale.
I finally got a shot of him with his eyes almost open! Isn't he gorgeous? I mean, seriously!!!!! Our very own Barred Owl. I checked the trees about 10 minutes ago and he was still here! That means he's been hanging around in our woodland for 12 hours. I'm hoping that it is because he has found a hole in one of the trees to nest in. That would be super cool!
Well, that's all I have for you tonight. I'll be back on Thursday with another card for you. In the meantime, I am off quickly thrown some dinner together before my next call. Polenta Pie is on the menu for tonight!

The snow is beautiful–and, although I’m sure you’re sick of it, I’m jealous. ;o)

Fall back layouts are great, as long as they are good…and yours is, at least in my opinon LOL!! Love how you boxed the sentiment with your scoring and stamped that sweet flower next to it.
I saw the owly there in your first shot, but your subsequent pictures were amazing! What a thrill for you to have a resident rodent eater, if he decides to stay. Thanks for sharing your great outdoor pics and your lovely card!

What a magnificent sight. Lou has an eye for such beautiful animals doesn’t he. I love to hear the owl hoots at night. We have one that stays in a pine tree on our property but we have never seen him as he is too far up in the tree. Your photos are delightful. Oh, and your card is nice too!

Wow – I am in awe of that owl! The best thing I saw this winter was a gray and red squirrel, I’ve seen red, grey and black, but not two-toned with red and grey…..Oh, and can’t forget the kudos for the card too!
