Paper Players Challenge #51 – Every Moment

Hi Everyone

Happy Sunday.

I am waaaaay late with my posts this weekend.  Unfortunately I worked a fair number of hours on Friday (from 2.30a.m – 6.30 p.m.  We were out all day yesterday in Minneapolis getting our car serviced and running around.  I also had to work this morning.  Consequently, I had no time to make my Paper Players challenge card – and had nothing to put on my blog for you!!!  However, I did get a couple of hours in my stamping space today.  I got my Paper Players Challenge card done for you.  The challenge this week is a COLOR CHALLENGE.

Ch 51
Fabulous summer colors for you.  However, the are generally colors I don't use.  So…. it was a bit of a challenge, but that's the whole key to challenges, right! 🙂

I decided to pull out one of my neglected stamp sets – Every Moment.  Generally I use the bird from this set, but decided to use the flower instead.

Card recipe:

  • Card stock:  Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White.  Daffodil Delight textured
  • Stamps:  Every Moment.  Sentiment: A Word for You.  Pattern on vase – Confetti
  • DSP:  Subtles Patterns Pack
  • Inks:  Sentiment: Basic Black.  Flowers:  Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi
  • Accessories:  Sweet Stitches Designer Fabric Brad
  • Tools:  Oval punch (for the vase), paper snips, stampin' dimensionals

It took me a while to make this card…. never mind how long it took to snip out the flowers!

Here's a closeup so that you can see the texture of the vase, with the Confetti stamped in Versarmark and the snipped out flowers

  Closeup (3)

I used the Confetti stamp on the vase to mimic the dots on the background DSP and also the dots on the flowers,  It also broke up the brightness of the Daffodil Delight a little, too.

I also have to thank my hubby for helping me out on this one.  I was battling with the background and had it as yellow.  Lou said, "you know, that would look better green!"  He was right!

The design team have created some amazing cards again this week.  Don't forget to pop along to the Paper Players – check out the design teams fabulous creations, and then make a card and play along with us.  We do hope you will join us.

On a personal note:

We have had a regular visitor to our garden the last couple of days.

Turkey

Isn't she fabulous?  Well, we think she is.  This morning the cats decided that there was something WAAAAAAYYYY interesting going on outside the window.  None of them getting too close I might tell you.  So, we had a look and……. well…. I am not surprised who was more surprised to see who!

Waddyalookinat

She was on the deck, standing on the bench!  I had to take the pic through the window – through the blind – so it's not the best!  I knew that if I opened the blind to get the pic, she would be gone.  Isn't this amazing?  The cats didn't know what to think of it.

Then….. the hummer – who has his feeder just behind her – decided she was waaay too close to the feeder and decided to dive bomb her to get her out of the way!

Prayers tonight for my dear friend Susie.  Susie's mom passed away yesterday and my thoughts, prayers and hugs go out to Susie and her family.  Her mother was an amazing woman whom I remember very fondly.

Prayers, too, for those of you who need a lift or a warm hug.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Jaydee this is gorgeous!!! Great job with the cutting too! Love how you designed the flowers in the vase! Hope you get some time to unwind!

  2. It must have taken ages to fussy cut those flowers!! Well worth the effort though, as your card looks amazing. I love how the brad matches the background DSP.
Prayers for your friend. It’s never easy to lose a loved one but to lose a parent is even harder.

  3. Holy moly! Look at her! She is STUNNING, and *so* close to your house!! Wow! What a treat for you all! :o)
The card is fantabulous as well. I love those colors and do believe I shall use them to make Lissie’s birthday card. :o)
I can’t believe you snipped out those flowers. You are incredible. The texture on the vase is wonderful, and I like the extra oomph the VersaMark confetti gave it. Well done. :o)

  4. How LUCKY you are to have this turkey gracing your garden!! I wonder – who won the hummer or the turkey when the hummer dive-bombed her? What a special photo and experience for you!!

  5. Wowzers, you need some fussy-cutting therapy didn’t you?! 🙂 Those flowers are fabulous Jaydee and so perfectly arranged in your vase. I would never know these colors didn’t come naturally to you. Great card!

  6. Love the card, Jaydee! The vase is so clever, and your fussy cutting is fabulous! However, your little turkey friend steals the post! She is adorable!

  7. Well, the card is terrific, but that turkey is something else! I’ve only had a turkey once in my yard and I didn’t have a camera! It was quite a shock, and certainly not as close as the deck! WOW! I would have loved to have seen the hummer chase her away! LOL! TFS!

  8. Jaydee, let’s hear it for busy weekends! Eeeek!!! At least you weren’t alone with posting late, eh? 😉 Fist up, I have never given that stamp set a second look, until today! I’m wow-ed by the fact that you cut all of those flowers out perfectly. Absolutely gorgeous!
Now I’m moving on to that gobbler! We always had wild turkey’s in our yard in North Dakota. They are such beautiful creatures! I’m sure your kitties were excited for her visit. 🙂

  9. You make beautiful cards, but I’m impressed with your photo!
We live in Alabama and are 13 miles from the closes small town. Some mornings we see Mr and Mrs Turkey and their little ones, feeding in the fields. Isn’t nature beautiful.
    God bless you.

  10. I LOVE the effect of the confetti on the vase. Have to confess that I’ve never even looked at that stamp. Lou has a good eye. The green background is very effective.
Now, as to the turkey…I’m still chuckling over the surprise of coming eyeball to eyeball with her, but even more so, over the story of the hummingbird chasing her. Talk about your David and Goliath contest! How lucky you are to have such incredible wildlife in your yard. I was just reading a (way) previous post where you mentioned having 50 species in your garden.

  11. I love this stamp set & your card is so pretty! I don’t know if I have the patience to cut them out though!
We see a lot of wild turkeys here too! We have to stop and let them get across the road! We need to make a TURKEY CROSSING sign! LOL!
Thanks for sharing your card & pictures Jaydee!
Susie- I am so sorry for your loss! I will keep you & your family in my thoughts & prayers!
And all who are in need!

  12. Hi Jaydee!
You have the best blog ever! I get to see wonderful inspirational cards and beautiful picutures of wildlife and gardens!! You card is stunning with those pretty colors and your timely cutting. Just love your idea for a vase too. And “Mrs. Turkey” is gorgeous! What a funny pic with her head turned sideways to see you (or kitties) up close. I think you should use MDS possibly to capture these pics and great stories and make a book. Puts a smile on my face!! Hope you get to relax this week and work is not so hard on you. Prayers to your friend Susie.

  13. You know what my comment will say-putsy, putsy, putsy! Love the turkey picture and you too!
