Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
I am way late – again – with my Paper Players card. The lovely Nance has a corker of a challenge for you all this week and I know you will have fun with it!
Now, I must admit that this challenge had me stumped. I tend to be a traditionalist and find it hard to think outside of the box for such traditional occasions. So, I really had to wrack my brain. I spent ages deciding on non-traditional colors and decided they were taking me way outside of my comfort zone. Note to self. Have to get outside my comfort zone!!!! So, I decided to go with a non-traditional stamp instead.
Finally, I decided to create a Christmas card focused on love. Then, it was an easy transition into a non-traditional Christmas stamp. I pulled out Valentine Defined, some pewter embossing powder, Cherry Cobbler card stock, opened up my MDS (for the sentiment) and I was finally away 🙂
Here's what I came up with
I stamped the image onto Whisper White card stock, embossed it, and then fussy cut around it. I added some Stampin' Dimensionals and popped it from the base. A little metallic silver card stock was placed behind the horizontal layer and helps to tie all three layers together. I took a red copic marker and colored three of the hearts red to add a little interest and emphasize the hearts themselves. Thank heavens for MDS and the fact that I could customize a sentiment to suit!
So, what do you think? Up for the challenge? We'd love it if you would join us this week and show us your Christmas card made with non-traditional colors, or a non-traditional stamp! The design team have outdone themselves again this week, so please pop along to their blogs and check them out. Then pop along to the Paper Players and join us.

On a personal note:
oh, yeah! 4.2 inches of the white stuff fell last night. Oh…it made me sooooo incredibly happy. At 1am the world looked magical and mystical and just astonishing. I realized that I could get some amazing shots with my camera just using the light reflected from the snow and through the clouds. Some REALLY cool shots. Some of them looked as though I had taken the scenes with an old Daguerreotype process. However, when you look in the bottom of this photograph, you realize that it isn't… even though part of the photograph may looked grey and green and fuzzy… the bright hues from the decorated Christmas tree take you to another place. I was SO pleased with this photograph.
Isn't that cool? Rach, I know you will appreciate it.
I took a couple more….. each one turned out differently depending on the light. Very little shutter delay was deployed when taking these shots, as I really wanted a more grainy, natural effect.
Aren't they just magical. I love it when it has just snowed. The world is so quiet and peaceful. Absolutely GORGEOUS!
Pammie, you would have been there, with your nose pressed to the window, loving this!
Hugs and prayers for all of you who need a little lift tonight.

Beautiful, Jaydee! LOVE the snow shots, too! Magical!
Lovely card. Beautiful photos. Wow! You have lots of snow. We are supposed to get some tomorrow.
The card is lovely, of course, but let’s get to the good stuff–that white fluffy stuff you have going on there! ;o) Oh how happy those photos made me. You are right, there is something mystical, magical and amazing about new fallen snow at night. And, those glorious Christmas lights in the snow. Ahhhh. If I can’t have it, at least somebody does. :oP Thank you for posting the pix and for enjoying the snow as much as I.
Now, the card. Simply lovely. I’m pretty good about moving outside my comfort zone with regards to Christmas card colors (I have made some glorious black and red creations), but would be clueless about stamps. Eek! You did a marvelous job–the little tree is perfect with that sentiment, and I just love that CAS layout. :o)
Hugs to you!
P.S. Howdy, Lou! :o)
Just beautiful, jaydee! THe pewter embossing adds an elegant touch and fabulous fussy-cutting! That’s some detailed trimming, indeed! Hope your weekend was great with all of the freshly fallen snow. Hugs! 🙂
Hi Jaydee! You did a wonderful job on your card. That was quite a challenge! I like the end result with the stamp and sentiment used. It really does stretch our minds when we are forced to think outside the box.
Your pics are magical! Love the Christmas lights. So awesome Jaydee! Make a snow angel for me!
I am so happy with the snow too! Beautiful pictures; thanks so much. Love your card; not sure I could get out of my comfort zone… will have to try.
Great photos Jaydee. Love the colored lights against the plain background. And the faint footprints add something. Maybe it was Santa looking around?
Love the card–you are just so creative!
The snow pictures are beautiful–that is how I love to see snow–in some one elses yard. Wonderful pics!!
Clever, a “Love Tree”. I like the colors and the tree.
Your pictures are so beautiful..like a movie where Tinkerbelle lands on a pine tree!
Keep warm and thank you for the pictures.
Beautiful, beautiful photos, Jaydee! As LeAnne has stated, they are magical! And your card is adorable!
