Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday. Oh yeah…. it's almost the weekend 🙂
My card tonight uses the new Peaceful Season (level 2 hostess set from the Holiday mini). I LOVE this set. In fact, I have made two cards in the last two days using this set and can't wait to ink it up again.
The sketch across at 2sketches4you called to me this week and I was drawn to Peaceful Season to create a clean and simple card. The only change I made to the sketch was to make the focal image on the right instead of the left. Why? Because I wanted to put the dove and he needed to go on the left of the image.
So, here is my card based on the fabulous sketch. Don't forget to pop along and check out the fabulous inspiration cards on the challenge blog.
I know it's a little hard to tell, but the dove is actually covered in iridescent ice embossing powder, so he has lots of shimmer.
Here's a closeup for you
It really is pretty in real life! I promise!
Card recipe: (all supplies SU unless otherwise noted)
- Card stock: Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
- DSP: Jolly Holiday
- Stamps: Peaceful Season (hostess level 2 – holiday mini)
- Accessories: Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ribbon (holiday mini), Iridescent Ice embossing powder
- Tools: Big Shot, nestabilities oval, Sizzix holly texturz plate (non SU), heat gun
Card instructions:
- Cut Cherry Cobbler to A2 – 8 1/2 x 11. Score and fold at 5 1/2". Score at the top.
- Run card front through big shot with embossing/texturz plate
- Cut Jolly Holiday polka dot paper to 5 1/2 x 1 3/4" and adhere to card base
- Cut Very Vanilla card stock using nestabilities
- Ink up the Peace on Earth stamp using Cherry Cobbler… generally I like a really crisp stamped image for my sentiments, however, this time I wanted a slightly aged feel… so didn't press as hard.
- Wrap ribbon around card and tie.
- Adhere sentiment to the card using stampin' dimensionals
- Ink up dove stamp with versamark and emboss using Iridescent Ice embossing powder. Heat set. Adhere dove to focal sentiment using snail – with a piece of dimensional under each wing and adhere wings to card base
It's a really simple card to make. I love the clean lines and I adore the paper!
On a personal note: I have to share a pic of Charlie – remember the stray that had been abandoned that Lou picked up. Let's remember that a month ago he was lying in a little bramble hideyhole he had made for himself…. Well, let's take a look at him now.
Is this guy comfortable or what??? I mean seriously…. beats a prickly bed in a hedge!
So…. I am contemplating another video….mmmm….. showing you how to make the bows and ribbon treatment on this card.
Prayers for Trish, Germaine, T, Pri, Arthur, John and Sue and Lesley and Cyrus.
As always, thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits and your support are much appreciated.
Hugs
Jaydee

Hi Jaydee, I love this card!! It is so eye-catching! Of course, you’re encouraging me to go out and buy contraband stuff you know! Gotta get that holly texturz plate!
And yes, Charlie definitely looks at home there!
Yes! Another video! Woot woot!!! I’m SO excited, and just today I was looking at the card with the lovely ribbon treatment and I was thinking what a GREAT video that would make! Really, I was! So now I’m waiting with great anticipation!!

Ah, Cherry Cobbler. Is that not the most perfect Christmas-y color? I love your treatment on the dove. :o) A simple, yet lovely card.
I’m happy to hear you may not be giving up video tutorials–yet. You are so kind to us, Jaydee. I know working full-time, often long days, and then coming home to work on videos is tiring. All this to say, “thank you” for all you do. :o)
Prince Pipsqueak looks as if he’s settling in quite nicely, lol! ;o)
Prayers to one and all.
HUGS!
Like always, love the card. And YAY! you’re going to teach me how to tie bows like you do with another video. I’m excited.
Charlie (are you still calling him that?) looks like he’s pretty happy and won’t be moving any time soon. Prayers and hugs to all!
I think Charlie has found a home, despite your best efforts! He looks so comfy!
