Happy Friday.
I saw a great sketch across at Freshly Made this week and had to play along. As soon as I saw the sketch I had a set in mind and I have no idea why that is. My mind works in mysterious ways sometimes. Just ask my husband 🙂
Anyway, I pulled out the Rolling Waves die set from Stampin’ Up! and a sentiment set from Alex Syberia called Sunkissed memories and decided they would work for my card. The only other thing I couldn’t decide was a color scheme. So I pulled out my trusty Color Cube and chose a summery/beachy set of colors from card 140 and I was good to go.

I began by die-cutting the umbrellas, the surf and the wet sand pieces. I cut the surf using two layers of vellum and adhered them to the water. I then added that layer to the wet sand. I needed two pieces above and below the circles to match the sketch, but had to go a little off piste as the wet sand isn’t straight!
I added a sentiment from the Alex Syberia set and then adhered the umbrellas. I know they are near the water, but….. I have to admit that I *might* once or twice have been caught out sleeping on a beach when the tide came in:-)

I was tempted to add some darker shading to the sand, but decided to leave it as I wanted the focus to be on the right-hand side of the card. Now, all I want to do is go sit on a nice pink sandy beach and relax with a cool drink!

Jaydee, I am soooo amazed by your foamy seashore!! Yes, that is exactly where I’d want to set up my beach umbrella and chair! I also love your combination of colors – that cube was a fabulous place to start building upon Verena’s sketch!
