Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday.
The fabulous Nance has a great color challenge at the Paper Players this week. Check out this inspiration photo:
I think this is such an unexpected color combo and I had such fun working out how I was going to incorporate it into my card.
In the end, I was drawn to the shapes of the necklace rings and decided to use a mosaic stencil from SimonSaysStamp.
I masked it off onto a piece of Whisper White card stock and used Crisp Cantaloupe and Midnight Muse inks to color in the mosaic. I started off with a layer of Crisp Cantaloupe – going darker in some areas than others. Once I had completed that layer, I went over the bottom of the pattern with the Midnight Muse. The two colors created a warmer version of the normal Midnight Muse and I loved the effect.
Once I had completed the coloring, I went over the stencil with Versamark, took off the stencil and then scattered Heat and Stick powder onto the patterned area and heat set. This created a nice sticky surface for me to sprinkle some distress glitter onto the pattern. It gives a subtle shine and I loved it. Unfortunately, you can't really capture that in the photograph.
Here's my card:
For the flowers and sentiment, I used the Thinking of You stamp set from the SSS February card kit. Some basic rhinestones finished off the card, along with a gold colored heart. This was easy, peasy; I used a heart from the Stampin' Up! Essential Wooden Elements which was adhered to the vellum tag with Crystal Effects. I used little tiny pieces of double sided clear tape behind the "You Are" sentiment to glue the tag to the base.
The flowers were stamped in gold and Crisp Cantaloupe inks before adhering to add just a little more interest. The front panel was then adhered onto SU Metallic Gold card stock.
The design team have rocked this challenge and have some fabulous inspiration for you. Don't forget to visit their blogs and then pop along to the Paper Players and play along with us.
On a personal note:
I got to play in my stamp room today. It was good to switch off from what is going on at work and play with paper and ink. It's amazing how relaxing crafting is and how rewarding it is to see something that you envision in your mind suddenly come to life. It's a feeling that I never get tired of.
It continues to be very cold here. I really cannot remember this many days where the temps are so far below zero. By the middle of the week, we are expecting a warm up, where the morning temps will actually rise above zero! YAY!
Actually, that dratted Groundhog might have predicted another 6 weeks of winter, but this morning I heard our own little harbinger of spring. A sweet little "see saw", "see saw", "see saw". Yes, the Chickadee was starting his mating calls. It is a sound that I look forward to every year. It's so cheerful and sweet and reminds me of the renewal of life.
I'll be back with another card tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. Colleen, big hugs for you.
Hugs
Jaydee

Jaydee, this card is truly fabulous. I love that you were inspiried by the necklace shapes. There are so many wonderful elements and technoques here that keep me coming back to look! The shade on the mosaics is so pretty and the vellum tag with pops of gold is so elegant. Fabulous way to rock my colors!
I love the layout of this, but the fonts and sentiment are my favorites!!! So cool! Very trendy!
I love how you incorporated 2 colors into your stencil. I’m excited to do something like that.
Very beautiful and elegant card Jaydee.
Thank you
Wow, what an interesting color combo. I can promise you I would NEVER have thought to put those three colors together, and yet they work so beautifully. :o)
I’m sorry it continues to be so dreadfully cold there! We’re in for more snow today–which I’m not complaining about. It’s been such a COLD winter. Yikes!
Try to stay warm!
Hugs!
P.S. Hi Lou!
Jaydee, I really love how you did the mosaic stenciling and couldn’t wait to read how you created it. A lot of steps, but totally worth it. The vellum layer is equally gorgeous. Fabulous take on the colors. (hugs)
Beautiful, Jaydee! I love the stenciling with the rhinestones.
What a great card. Love the layers and the embossing. TFS.
Jaydee, this is beyond gorgeous! I love all of that fabulous bling, too. The gold embossing is the perfect touch. 🙂
